Desktop Support Specialist (Former Employee) – Austin, TX – September 16, 2015
The company went through a lot of change in the last year, starting with a major change in business focus and new leadership. Working in IT left much to be desired with the management's lack of organization, focus and long term vision. Favoritism was rampant and a lack of simple due diligence in the most basic of processes made the team work a bit challenging.
The people who work at Demand Media, however, are fantastic, dedicated and talented. The culture was fun, social and easy going.

Demand Media enabled me to work when and where I wanted. I was a freelance writer and even though I worked primarily from home, I was able to keep in touch with other writers via the Demand Media message boards.

Demand Media is a awesome place to work, not only are the people cool but so is the CEO, there is a sense of community within the work place. Demand also has a cool group called "Team Culture" which is charge of planning monthly fun events and activities.
WRITER/PRODUCER (Former Employee) – Chicago, IL – May 12, 2015
Being given a list of producing or writing assignments to chose from was greats because it allowed you to plan ahead with current or future projects. The hardest part of the job would have to be over coming writer's block.Overcoming that obstacle and pulling through as a team to get the job done was always, by far the best reward.

Culture at Demand Media is very laid back, comfortable and allows you to flourish and show management really how creative you can be. Must be a self-starter and really voice your opinions and ideas. It's always welcomed.
A typical work day is busy with a varied amount of tasks. Must be people oriented and able to switch gears at any given time. The environment is cool & hip and the people are an amazing group of people to work with - including management.
This job was particularly flexible, in that you could choose your own work schedule and write as many or as few articles as you could handle. There was also a nice selection of interesting topics to write about, and almost anyone could find something that interested them enough to write a two page article about the subject.
Flexible schedule, decent pay
No direct supervisor; work was evaluated by a group of editors
