This position serves as technical coordinator for engineering functions that involve the design, installation, implementation and utilization of the Campus cabling infrastructure in support of the data and voice network goals and objectives of the agency, campus tenants, and customers. It also assists in the design, implementation and administration of the Building Automation Systems (BAS) Network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, Servers, PCs, Remote Access, Wireless and Cabling Systems.
-Provide technical coordination for campus and BAS network design and installation of infrastructure components.
-Provide technical guidance to DGS managed projects with regard to low voltage cabling ensuring code and industry standards are addressed.
-Works with DGS tenants in the design, specification, and implementation of new or enhanced cabling plans.
-Coordinates production modifications with agency and DGS customers and other sections.
-Assist in the management of day-to-day Building Automation Systems network, server and other infrastructure operations.
- Provide end user support for out of scope hardware.
-Experience with configuration and support of network devices, e.g. hubs, routers, switches and modems.
-Working knowledge of PC's, LANs, DNS, DHCP, AD, MS server OS's.
-Knowledge of voice, data and video distribution.
- Considerable IT support/hardware experience to include switches, servers and PCs.
-Well organized with attention to detail.
-Excellent interpersonal skills a must.
-Advanced knowledge of telecommunications hardware, management and testing tools.
-Knowledge of TIA Standards and NEC as it applies to low voltage cabling.
-Bachelors degree in Engineering OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
-Significant telecommunications management/installation experience.
-BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer or equivalent.
-Copper and fiber installation, termination, testing and fiber splicing experience.
