First Assistant Manager, Grand Island, NY - June 18, 2017
Although compensation and benefits in the fast food industry are typically limited, compensation at Derico was somewhat below average, and the work environment disordered and chaotic. No paid time off was offered to non-salaried employees, pay for non-managers was almost always minimum wage, and benefits typically offered by McDonald's to most franchisees were not offered. The work environment is very relaxed at most locations, however, the lack of management, and low staffing levels make work here very stressful. Mobility into shift management is readily available, however, and for teens seeking experience in a leadership role I would recommend exploring McDonald's as a first job.
