Office Manager, Wilmington, NC - February 1, 2016
My typical day at work was very hectic. I had to balance taking care of any clerical and clinical supply needs or complaints of the employee, handle anything the doctor requested immediately, manage the employee time clocking system (if an employee forgot to clock in I had to manually clock them in), monitor the security system, order clerical supplies and medical supplies, make sure the daily contracting cleaning crew clean all aspects of the building, make sure all the clinical staff clean as protocol permit cleaning the exam rooms and central sterilization area, responsible for the compression stocking count each day and monthly, handled any employee and patient compliant immediately, and met with new hires for possible employment, met with advertisers to ensure we had new ads and our current ads were airing as we desired. Negotiated clinical equipment pricing, malpractice premium pricing and general supplies pricing. Credentialed doctors for hospitals, surgical center and other states. On-call if answering service could not reach doctor, made sure the insurance verification staff and billing had what they needed in order to successfully execute their jobs. Also, handled bi-weekly payroll from 2002-2013. Negotiated pricing with linen and shredding companies. Also, make they were on point with pickups.
I have learned a great deal of how to management a unique medical practice. This knowledge extends also in opening up 3 practices from the the ground. I have learned how to deal with many personalities.
The hardest part of my job was not having enough time in the day. My most enjoyable part of my job is the feel of accomplishment each day. I enjoyed the challenge of making a difference each day. I also enjoyed working for the doctors and with the staff.
