Desert NDT, LLC has been in the nondestructive testing business for over 30 years. Our company is big enough to handle your work, but small enough to personalize your service. Our efforts are focused on Safety, Quality and Service. We believe this approach results in satisfied customers and a healthy growing company. Our success in the business is a testament to this approach.
We are committed to quality because it is the key to inspection. Desert has an ASNT Certified level III on staff that is responsible for in-house certifications, training, safety and quality control. Furthermore, managers make regular field inspections to ensure safe quality work on the jobsite.
Desert has more than 200 mobile X-Ray rigs with two man crews equipped with some of the most experienced technicians in the business. All technicians are certified to American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II standards in radiography. This certification requires practical process proficiency testing in addition to passing a written exam on codes and theory. Desert technicians have extensive on the job training (often years) prior to being certified and most of the technicians are also ASNT Level II certified in dye penetrant and magnetic particle testing methods as well.
In addition to X-Ray, Desert has extensive ultrasonic testing capability and personnel. The most common application is to determine the thickness of pipe. Thickness measurements are critical in ensuring process safety with existing equipment to determine the corrosion rate that has occurred. This allows the operator of the facility to provide preventive maintenance and avoid downtime. Desert can do all manner of shear wave and phased array inspection as well as the simpler thickness measurements. We also have ultrasonic equipment that can scan an area to give a better understanding of the extent and nature of corrosion than is possible with point reading equipment. We have the full range of hardness testing including electronic surface reading with digital output.
API certified 510, 570 and 653 Tank inspectors. We also have AWS Certified Welding Inspectors available. – less
