Not a great place
Finance Analyst II (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILFebruary 15, 2016
Going downhill fast. One of the lesser evils in the for-profit education industry but it's difficult to commoditize education and the losses far outweigh the wins in my opinion.

Managment Styles vary.... no consistentancy
Executive Recruiter (Current Employee) –  Naperville, ILNovember 11, 2015
Depending on your Manager's background, you will more than likely be micro managed. And as much as they might tell you "TEACH Values" its a corporate environment, with shareholders, and revenue goals each quarter...

Integrity in senior management and solid benefits
Designer (Current Employee) –  Addison, ILNovember 2, 2015
DeVry is a challenging place to work and grow in responsibilities over time. Middle management genuinely makes efforts to improve efficiency and productivity, making time for group outings yearly. Senior management has a high level of integrity and contributes through profit sharing back into employee 401ks.

Fun place to work. The care about individual development along with the organizational growth. Not sure about the higher management as we never have to deal with them.

DeVry is decent place to work
Admissions (Former Employee) –  AddisionOctober 9, 2015
DeVry is going through a difficult time attempting to reinvent themselves, emphasizing more with the campus student interaction versus online which in past years were its "bread and butter". I foresee additional layoffs until everything can get back to level.

Senior Director of Admissions (Former Employee) –  Fresno, CASeptember 16, 2015
The work life balance is non-existent. The campus leader does not put in what he expects of others. The employee approvals are very low and continue to fall.
Pros
Sundays off
Cons
Long hours and days

I worked there for over 4.5 years. The last year has been tough. A lot of cuts and a ton of micromanagement. Very little advancement

Advising students is truly rewarding, yet everyday is met with an overwhelming workload and every other week leaves you pinching pennies once again.

Good place to advance your career
Assistant Director of Recruitment Services (Former Employee) –  Naperville, ILJune 18, 2015
Organization has lot of opportunity to grow your career. The hardest part though is navigating the internal politics. This has gotten better over the last year or so but is still an on going issue.
Pros
Good training, opportunity to grow

The company provides good job stability. Not to please with the benefits and compensation package along with the slow professional growth process. Good company to work for overall for knowledge, experience and to achieve educational goals.

Fun place to work
Student Finance Consultant (Current Employee) –  Oak Brook, ILMay 8, 2015
good company, nice benefits, good pay. Job responsibilities are a bit much, call center/customer service position so thick skin is needed. Have to be ok with sitting all day and do the same thing over and over, talking to incompetent students about their finances. Travel option can be ok, work from home is excellent after you wait to be offered.. Hate working 9 hours with 1 hour lunch, the day is crazy long. My manager is new, he used to micro mange like crazy to a point where 5 employees quit. He's a changed leader now, still crazy but not so much. The other 2 supervisors are cool.
Pros
comfy environment, they listen to your suggestions and incorporate them
Cons
long work day, the work itself, call center, customer service

Unprofessional environment
Account Rep (Former Employee) –  Oakbrook, ILApril 29, 2015
I was a previous employee and I worked in the DeVry Education Group area. First of all you have to babysit a laptop but you cannot work from home when the weather is bad. There is favoritism depending on which department you work in. The benefits are ok. I've had better. If you are in hopes of attending school that can be a great perk however don't expect to advance career wise at DeVry especially if you are a minority. Management is lazy and sometimes lacks the knowledge of handling issues such as conflict among employees. I wouldn't recommend anyone to work here unless they are desperate or attend as a student. Also, they have a high amount of student complaints.
Pros
Free fruit on certain days, remote work depending on the team your on.
Cons
Bad management, no room for advancement, favoritism, unprofessional, lack of communication between departments.

Efficient place to work.
Operations Support Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILApril 21, 2015
It was a very productive and efficient place to work. The employees were very nice to work with. The hours could have been better. The accomodations were nice in the building we worked in. The security could have been better for the building. There were times that people got up without proper identification.
Pros
Satifactory Lunches
Cons
Sometimes Unprofessional
