Advising students is truly rewarding, yet everyday is met with an overwhelming workload and every other week leaves you pinching pennies once again.

Good place to advance your career
Assistant Director of Recruitment Services (Former Employee), Naperville, ILJune 18, 2015
Pros: Good training, opportunity to grow
Cons: Compensation
Organization has lot of opportunity to grow your career. The hardest part though is navigating the internal politics. This has gotten better over the last year or so but is still an on going issue.

The company provides good job stability. Not to please with the benefits and compensation package along with the slow professional growth process. Good company to work for overall for knowledge, experience and to achieve educational goals.

Fun place to work
Student Finance Consultant (Current Employee), Oak Brook, ILMay 8, 2015
Pros: comfy environment, they listen to your suggestions and incorporate them
Cons: long work day, the work itself, call center, customer service
good company, nice benefits, good pay. Job responsibilities are a bit much, call center/customer service position so thick skin is needed. Have to be ok with sitting all day and do the same thing over and over, talking to incompetent students about their finances. Travel option can be ok, work from home is excellent after you wait to be offered.. Hate working 9 hours with 1 hour lunch, the day is crazy long. My manager is new, he used to micro mange like crazy to a point where 5 employees quit. He's a changed leader now, still crazy but not so much. The other 2 supervisors are cool.

Unprofessional environment
Account Rep (Former Employee), Oakbrook, ILApril 29, 2015
Pros: Free fruit on certain days, remote work depending on the team your on.
Cons: Bad management, no room for advancement, favoritism, unprofessional, lack of communication between departments.
I was a previous employee and I worked in the DeVry Education Group area. First of all you have to babysit a laptop but you cannot work from home when the weather is bad. There is favoritism depending on which department you work in. The benefits are ok. I've had better. If you are in hopes of attending school that can be a great perk however don't expect to advance career wise at DeVry especially if you are a minority. Management is lazy and sometimes lacks the knowledge of handling issues such as conflict among employees. I wouldn't recommend anyone to work here unless they are desperate or attend as a student. Also, they have a high amount of student complaints.

Executive Graduate Advisor(Advisor III) (Current Employee), Maryland Heights, MOApril 26, 2015
Pros: Excellent work/life balance resources
Cons: the higher educational market
DeVry is a great University, with a great understanding of work.life balance. You will grow to love the management and the people. The focus is on the students, which creates a great culture within.

Efficient place to work.
Operations Support Coordinator (Former Employee), Chicago, ILApril 21, 2015
Pros: Satifactory Lunches
Cons: Sometimes Unprofessional
It was a very productive and efficient place to work. The employees were very nice to work with. The hours could have been better. The accomodations were nice in the building we worked in. The security could have been better for the building. There were times that people got up without proper identification.

DeVry is a high energy place to work. Promotion is achievable if one applies themselves and shows leadership skills.

Changing Industry
Admissions Advisor (Former Employee), New York, NYNovember 3, 2014
Pros: many good people, free tuition, decent benefits
Cons: questionable ethical practices, lack of upward mobility
Although the company acted in integrity in terms of its training, some high pressure sales strategies were emphasized to call into question ethical practices. The trend of this industry is aimed at replacing individuals with technology. Turnover was extremely high; morale was very low. Upward mobility is extremely difficult. Overall, it was a worthwhile experience, but I would be cautious about pursuing a career within the for-profit education industry.

Pros: working on a team with great collegues
Cons: evaluations of your work based on an evaluation system that is constantly changing, this did not allow for a realistic view of the work accomplished
Working with students over the phone assisting with academic and financial questions.

The experience I have gained from working with this company include working with different software systems, engaging in training for new hires, and creating and implementing Town Hall meetings for our students to connect with the Dean's of their programs.

The most challenging part of the job is combining both the Academic and Financial aspects of a students account in one call. These are very detailed conversations that can take up to an hour on one phone call.

The most rewarding part of my job was to work with students, helping them to complete their degree and move forward with their career.
