The position of Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the daily functions of the warehouse while maintaining creditability and keeping a positive working environment. This is a position that will require the incumbent to organize and administer DiVal Safety’s delivery schedule that will best serve our customers while upholding the warehouse value statement. The position will also require the incumbent to organize and administer DiVal Safety’s receiving schedule and allocate the work accordingly.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Warehouse Supervisor’s focus and priority is to process orders with the assistance of the warehouse staff where business volume allows for additional personnel. Communication between the Warehouse Supervisor and the rest of the staff should be constant in order to have awareness of workload and understanding of available skills. The communication should also be with all other DiVal personnel (Sales, Customer Care, and Managers) in order to assess the workload and to maximize all possible deliveries and shipments.
The Warehouse Supervisor will assist in investigating issues that question the warehouse credibility. He or She will respond or investigate any requests or concerns conveyed. These requests are time sensitive and should be addressed with the highest sense of urgency. These issues may include but are not limited to warehouse procedure errors, shipment errors, timeliness of delivery, and “printed” open order investigation.
The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for timely and effective Inventory Cycle Counts. This process will include follow up to inventory discrepancies to discover reasons for inventory adjustments.
The Warehouse Supervisor will also assist the Warehouse Manager with personnel issues of the warehouse staff. This will include participating in the interview process and conducting background checks with previous employers. This will also include personnel development (training/positive feedback) and using the “steps of discipline” to improve performance/change behaviors. He or she will also assist the Warehouse Manager in tracking warehouse performance based on existing warehouse metrics and future metrics yet to be developed.
The Warehouse Supervisor is to provide a safe working environment for all employees. This requires the incumbent to enforce safety related policies for equipment, vehicles or chemicals. He or she will also monitor unsafe conditions providing documentation for disciplinary reasons and possible teaching opportunities.
The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for the safe transport of hazardous materials. The Warehouse Supervisor will insure that all hazardous materials will be shipped within all D.O.T. regulations.
The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible and insist that all shipments on DiVal vehicles will be at or below vehicle weight restrictions for the designated vehicle being used to transport product.
The Warehouse Supervisor will assist the Warehouse manager in developing continuous technological improvements with the help of the Information Technology department to keep the warehouse productive and at a high level of accuracy.
The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for completing “a day’s work in a day”, to include:
1.) All PO’s processed, and all items from those PO’s put away the same day as received.
2.) All local “Our Delivery” orders entered/released delivered to our customers by next business day.
3.) All FedEx/UPS orders entered /released by 2:00 p.m. must be shipped same day. Orders after 2:00 p.m. to be shipped upon request.
4.) All freight carrier orders entered/released by 12:00 noon must be shipped same day. Orders after 12:00 noon to be shipped upon request when logistically possible.
5.) All required inventory cycle counts to be completed and processed with the assistance of the inventory supervisor.
6.) Daily “facting” maintenance of the warehouse completed. (F.A.C.T.S.= F- face product, A- align product, C- clean/cut, T- tag, S- sweep)
The position will also include miscellaneous duties as needed by the Warehouse Manager and will include opening and closing duties.
This position requires for high level of communication and organization. In addition, the candidate should have advanced computer/AS400 training and formal warehouse equipment training including (but not limited to); Tow motor, order picker, reach truck and scissor lift. Further training and certifications may be required to meet the future needs of the position.
The Warehouse Supervisor reports directly to the Warehouse Manager while working in accordance with the Operations Manager. This position will also include extensive communication with office managers, sales and customer service staff.
