Information Management Specialist, Product Data (Former Employee) – Thief River Falls, MN – January 18, 2018
They have great benefits, the pay is a little low. I held 4 different positions while there. I was in the quote department and information management. Quotes, bc of the phones there is less freedom, information management is pretty relaxed.

Like any company, there are good things and bad things that can be said about it. Everyone who works there may have a completely different experience; the main reason behind this is that there are hundreds of different jobs at this company. My experience with the company was a good one overall. The management of the company truly cares about its employees; they don't hold themselves above anyone else. The benefits are amazing.

Digi-Key is built on a philosophy of dedicated employees who commit to providing the best service possible. Everyone know that it is best to go beyond the norm to deliver exceptional customer service. Employees perform with commitment because we love it!
Management is great to work with and a tremendously friendly environment.
Order Fulfillment Specialist (Current Employee) – Fargo, ND – July 12, 2017
For being a company that promotes its friendly small town attitude, the management is very rigidly corporate. They don't take the time to differentiate between hard, enthusiastic workers and people doing the bar minimum for a paycheck. I was verbally promised promotions over the last for years but did not "interview well enough" to be promoted, despite having years of first-hand experience over other applicants. I find their human resource department to be incompetent at best. However, their benefits are unparalleled. The health insurance is the greatest I've ever seen. It's a great company to work for if you're content to be a worker bee with no initiative to move upwards. Perhaps this is how most companies are, but I find myself ill at ease.
Great benefits, strict scheduling, regular hours
Not much room for advancement, incompetent management
Assigned Sales Representative (Former Employee) – Thief River Falls, MN – June 14, 2017
DigiKey is a wonderful place to work. They give you wonderful training and support to do your job. They are also very understanding if you want to try something else and want to make this the best job experience for you. I had nothing but good things to say about the company, wish they were closer so I could try again. My particular job was not suited to me, however, the whole time I was wonderfully encouraged and supported to take the time to figure out if that job was for me or if I wanted to try for another position within the company. Life events led me away from the region, but if I had a DigiKey in my area, I would work for them in a heartbeat. Nice people, great support and training, amazing health benefits for singles and families. Very generous company.

This is really a great company to work for. It has amazing benefits and friendly people. Management plays favorites though and if you haven't grown up in the area it is hard to make friends and trust people. A lot of the people that work there are family and know each other.
management plays favorites and can be hard to advance.

Picking Representative (Former Employee) – Thief River Falls, MN – May 8, 2015
Processing orders for customers. I picked 45 orders per hour. If there was any problem with damaged parts my supervisor was always available to contact the correct department to get more parts for that order. I had fun with my co-workers and would help them if needed. The best part of the day was knowing I put together correct orders for the customers.
Once a month they would put out fruit and cake for 1500 employees.
Not knowing what holidays were going to be on my schedule
Supervisor, Order Fulfillment (Former Employee) – Thief River Falls, MN – November 20, 2014
The work was not very labor intensive but you did a lot of walking. I learned that big companies can still have a small company feel. The workers here were a great bunch of people. Management here was always willing to listen to you and help you out.
Product Manager Semiconductor Group (Current Employee) – Thief River Falls, MN – September 13, 2014
A Product Manger at Digi-Key is basically the liaison between suppliers and Digi-Key. Our job is to build and foster interrelationships with Digi-Key's suppliers, ensure the right parts are stocked, and answer customer concerns on occasion.
Digi-Key has taught me a great deal about the electronic component industry. From the perspective of a distributor, I understand how to put the customer first in all decisions. I've learned how to interact with several different departments both internal and external and I've learned integrity in business.
Your co-workers are also your friends. They talk about Minnesota nice, well, it's alive and well within Digi-Key!
The hardest part of the job is knowing that you most likely won't make upper management. No one has been promoted to upper management in many years. All have come from external.
Conversely, the most enjoyable part of the job is the variety and safety. No layoffs ever and always something new to do and conquer!

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Thief River Falls, MN – June 4, 2012
There is no typical day at Digi-Key corporation. The functions are all consistent, but no two calls were alike. I learned patience and that the customer is always right. I strove to deliver 100% customer satisfaction on each and every call. My co-workers were fantastic as well as my managers. It was a close knit team of people who relied on eachother's experiences when someone had a dilemma they couldn't figure out. I really enjoyed that aspect of the job. The teamwork is phenomenal.
the healthcare benefits
the timeclock, very strict on punching in and out.
