Observer Media is a diversified media company that includes newspapers (New York Observer and Commercial Observer), luxury magazines (Scene, Scooter, Yue and Luo), and digital properties (Beta Beat, Politicker, and Gallerist). We are currently looking for a luxury sales manager to deliver revenue from top advertisers across our portfolio of luxury titles. Applicants MUST have experience selling advertising to luxury accounts.


  • Sell luxury advertising space, digital packages and event sponsorships for Observer Media through personal, telephone and direct mail contacts
  • Proactively seek opportunities to drive new business utilizing metrics and a philosophy of performance-based accountability
  • Have existing relationships with top advertisers in the Luxury space
  • Interact with Editors and product leaders to ensure business/edit alignment
  • Help identify the Observer Luxury strategy through marketplace feedback
  • Interact extensively with agencies and clients to determine key marketing issues for all accounts
  • Use various sales aides, visual presentations, research reports and sales support data to help effectively deliver sales message to clients
  • Deliver creative and thorough follow-ups with accurate and timely business estimates, forecasts, paperwork/administration
  • Provide account status reports, submit weekly itineraries, generate competitive analysis and share-of -market reports, etc.
  • Keep relevant others informed (management, partners, group) regarding account status, proposals, personnel changes, etc
  • Attend weekly sales meetings

Successful Candidates Must Have

  • Excellent presentation, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • The drive to win business as a key member of a dynamic team representing great products
  • Experience with Salesforce or CRM systems
  • Exceptional closing skills and the ability to overcome objections
  • Responsive customer service attitude and a sense of urgency
  • Extremely professional and positive demeanor
  • Demonstrated time management and an outstanding work ethic

Required Experience
4-6 years of consumer ad sales experience required; Extensive list of contacts in the luxury category required; College degree is desired.
