Sales sales sales.
Field Service Technician (Current Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLJanuary 14, 2018
Pay can increase or decrease every 3 months depending of your sales and quality numbers. If you don't meet sales requirements, nothing else matters, you will only make the lowest pay level. Technicians are encouraged to take advantage of customers by selling extra products that they do not need. This is really the only way to meet the required $20 per customer expectation. It's a shame really. This was a great job before they started pushing sales.
Pros
Vehicle, gas card, benefits
Cons
Dishonest sales culture

Horrible Job
Master Technician (Current Employee) –  Tampa, FLSeptember 30, 2017
This job is billed as being a "technician", when in reality you are being hired to do in-home sales of Dish branded peripheral equipment, which your success in is a measured metric that directly affects your pay and even your continued employment. You are expected to work 12 to 14 hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week, year-round. Pay is piece-rate, so you get paid the same $25 to do a service call that takes 5 minutes as a service call that take 9 hours.
Pros
company truck, tools, gas card
Cons
everything else.

good place to work to get experience
Field Technician (Former Employee) –  Sanford, FLAugust 30, 2017
You start your 1st job 8am and it can range from a trouble call, pole mount, disconnect or new install. It could be stressful at times but as long as you know your basics keep it simple plan and execute and you will be fine. I learned to do the job right the first time so that they don't send another tech to fix your mistakes. The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing that you did a good job and made the customer very happy.
Pros
Experience in satelite and cable installations
Cons
pay, lack of work and the constant changing of compensation plans

Field Service Technician (Current Employee) –  Brandon, FLJune 19, 2017
a typical day at work starts with me checking my phone to see were i will be for the day as i can work as far south as Tucumas to as far north as Spring hill. I have learned a lot about telecommunication from setting up satellites to what orbitals I need to hit and running cable. the management staff is great and very helpful. The workplace culture has become more off a hostile one in which upper management focus is more on us selling products to custom that providing them a wonderful customer friendly cabling service. the hardest part of the job is worrying about not getting sales and wondering when management is going to start pressuring you to sell products . The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting new and amazing people

Management takes care of their employees, everyday is different, some days you get home early others you will be home late. Pay scale is based off of number of jobs versus hours worked.
Pros
Everyday is different, great management
Cons
Never knowing when I will be home to spend with family

If you can't sell products then you're worthless
Satellite Technician (Former Employee) –  Sanford, FLJune 5, 2017
They are cleaning house, and are firing every technician that cannot sell. You would think that as a technician you would just have to worry about taking care of customers, and making sure all their equipment is working properly, but no they also want you to sell and unfortunately if a customer doesn't want to spend money on additional services then you are the one that gets punished. Would not recommend anyone that is looking for a long term job to this company, if you have a truck and tools go out and get a contracting job which doesn't require you to SELL. I give this company 2 years before it shuts down. Unless Dish Network shuts them down!
Pros
benefits, company vehicle, and all tools are provided.
Cons
no opportunity for advancement, low pay for long hours, corporate doesn't care about its employees.

terrible work environment
installation and service tech (Former Employee) –  FLMay 30, 2017
typical day involves hours of unpaid driving to get to a job that pays 24 dollars. they have no work for you, so 20 dollars a day for a 10 hour day can be expected. do way to much work for free. run off of a points and metrics peice work system, its terrible. DOW electronics just uses this company to help their tax fraud and embezelment and they dont care about you, your check, or their customers. if you cant sell 200 dollars a day worth of junk, you are worthless to them and they treat you terribly. no matter how desperate you are, dont take this job.
Pros
take home van
Cons
Everything else

Stressful due to being a production oriented employer
Satellite Technician/ Lead Tech (Former Employee) –  Leesburg, FLMay 23, 2017
Other than the working on average 60+ hours each week to make money due to low wage offering, bonus commision was good. Weekends were mostly spent recovering from an exhausting work week. Some managers made the work environment too stressful for most installation techs causing a high employee turn over rate. Training was adequate, and each tech was provided a company vehicle to work from and take home.

Too many hours for most, especially if having a family with young children.
Pros
Too many hours
Cons
advancement opportunities, bonus if you can manage to make production goals

An average day on the job will differ daily. I truly enjoyed coaching and mentoring the employees and received gratification by others successes.

I was heavily recruited by the company and laid off in 7 months due to down sizing. However I understand business needs.

it is a family owned and operated company that I enjoyed working with

Yes you do get a company truck and sell phone but whatever glitters is not gold. this company is this company is full of bs they really need to be put out of business.
