Sales Supervisor/Sales Coach (Current Employee), Phoenix, AZOctober 15, 2014
Pros: great co-workers
Cons: commision is never correct or taken back if over budget!
Direct Energy is a great company to work for, but the Tempe, AZ site has been taken over my new management which has changed the great culture the company has built and is no longer a exciting and respectable environment.

Under new management it is now who you know that gets you advanced not performance and not a good place for job security or correct pay.

Pros: benefits
The phone is always ringing with residents or business owners on the other end looking to set up new service or transfer their electricity. By asking the proper probing questions and using a consultative selling process to overcome any objections helps me make the sale as well as give the customer a memorable experience. Management here is very fair and are always coaching to make their workers the best. The coworkers here are always so helpful and friendly. The hardest part about this job is that I am indoors most of my day.My dream is to work in the airline industry and one day work hard to afford to go to shcool to become a pilot to see the world. The most enjoyable part about setting up electricity is helping people get connected making their day better.

Lead Account Executive (Current Employee), Mount Laurel, NJOctober 13, 2014
The job experience was great, there's definitely a lot to learn in this business about work in general, yourself, and others. A typical day at work would be going in early in the morning, management would go over topics that should be addressed, such as ways to improve, they will have a "1on1" conversations with the employee with more sensitive topics and or information. In this job, I have learned very valuable information that can be easily applied to anything and everything out there. Co-workers are very friendly, open minded, and have positive attitudes. The most enjoyable part of the job was when we would have "1on1" to find ways to help one-another.

Billing Lead/Sr. Billing Analyst (Former Employee), pittsburghSeptember 30, 2014
The culture of the company is pretty good. The people are great. Management could use some work. they do not value good employees. Everything seems to be about politics so, if you don't get a long with a particular person, your time there will be short.

Fast-paced, commodity-based industry with a call center work environment that focuses on high tech skills.
Learning and Development Specialist (Former Employee), Tulsa, OKAugust 9, 2014
It is a fast-paced commodity-based industry that caters towards young, technically advanced employees. They promote "life and work" balance; however, you spend most of your days in meetings and have to do the work in the evenings and weekends.

Even though the work environment at my location was nice, it was an open "call center" work environment that made it difficult to focus on detailed work.

You will go far, if you are young and have a stable credit history in order to pay-in-advance travel expenses and/or have a strong knowledge of the commodity industry.

The pros are that they pay well and have great benefits.

Team Member (Former Employee), Chicago, ILAugust 8, 2014
Pros: having fun
Cons: short breaks, and standing on feet all day
A typical day at work for me would be not making any deals and if u don't make any deals you don't get paid and answering to rude customers.

What I learned at the job was how to communicate will with others and how to be confidence in what you say.

Management was awesome

Co- workers we're fun and exciting to be around they made work enjoyable to come to everyday.

The hardest part of the job was remembering your pitch when reciting it to customers at the door and knowing your opponents that work for other energy company

The most enjoyable part of the day was when work was over and you could sit back and relax with your co-workers.
