Third Party Contractor (Former Employee), Self employed. anywhere i desired – June 13, 2014
Working at Direct TV was very stressful to me because of the fact that I was a self employed contractor. I didn't like the fact that I had to make a sale in order to get payed, but I liked that I got to work on my own time. im looking for something that ive had some kind of experience in and with dependable pay
At Alorica working Direct TV everyday was fast paste. I learned how to clear a call within 7 min by my 2 week on the floor. My skills progressed as I continued working on the account over the months. I learned how to successfully close a sale with the customer feeling comfortable buying from me. However, the hardest part was to ask for their credit – more... card information because that question makes just about anyone uncomfortable. I loved to help customers with their questions and most of all I loved to leave the customers feeling lucky for buying one of your items. – less

Energetic learning experience, but hard to pay bills
Salesman (Former Employee), Fredericksburg, VA – April 19, 2014
Pros: paid gas taxes
The hardest part of the job was walking around best buy and trying to convince people they wanted something they did not come to the store for. You are paid every time you get someone to sign up for direct tv and it has been successfully installed in the customers home A lot of times even if you have convinced some one in the store to put their signature – more... on the papers for direct tv installation and 4 year contract, when direct tv installers arrive at their house they either forgot or simply changed there minds and direct tv says that is allowed. So in those cases you do not get paid. There was also a 350 dollar base pay but sometimes if you had a bad week you could end up owing money. The pay was inconsistent and I could not keep getting payed the amount I was if I wanted to keep up with my bills. I learned way more than I expected to. My co-workers and supervisors were great and I had professionals teach me the basics of convincing and sales. My social skills got better and I became more confident in myself. I learned a whole lot from this job but the pay wasn't consistent and I needed money to pay bills right away. – less
