The US is the fastest-growing market and the focus of its expansion plans. As well as recruiting customers under its own brand (Laithwaites Wine), Direct Wines also runs wine clubs for major business partners (The Wall Street Journal, Zagat and Virgin in the US). Within this multi-channel business, e-commerce already represents the majority of orders and continues to grow.

The Role

This role will be responsible for the sales performance, development and optimization of the company’s four websites.

Things you will do

  • Analyze key web metrics, especially related to sales and conversion
  • Co-ordinate testing strategies to improve web site conversion and sales
  • Prioritize other web developments based on analysis and agreed business strategy
  • Project manage cross-departmental team dedicated to e-commerce improvements
  • Identify creative, layout and navigation enhancements based on analysis
  • Manage detail (copy, layout etc) for all web pages from a marketing perspective
  • Advise on SEO, acquisition opportunities and landing page improvements
  • Develop clear and streamlined web reporting

Things you will need

  • 5+ years of direct and online marketing experience in an e-commerce business
  • Well-developed trading instincts and a natural sales focus
  • The desire to own and be accountable for the online channel
  • Excellent analytical skills to optimize performance and identify new opportunities
  • Clarity of thought in prioritizing these opportunities
  • Great team and communication skills – able to co-ordinate cross-departmental functions
  • Creative awareness, both verbal and visual , and the ability to think as customers do
  • Attention to detail with awareness of the nuances of language and layout
  • The ability to work at pace and oversee multiple projects at once
  • Experience of Google Analytics
  • Experience in social media a plus
