Great retail job
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Philadelphia, PA – September 8, 2012
This was my first job, fresh out of middle school. Here,I learned and gained so much knowledge on retail. I believe this job has helped turn me into the dependable worker I am today. The best part if the job, were the clothes. The hardest part about the job was dealing with thieves

mamcys `
cashier/sales (Former Employee), merriville plaza – July 20, 2012
Pros: very easy to adapt too
Cons: too early
typical day would be coming in at 5am and during these hours the store was close and you pick a section for you to start in or what ever section your manager tells you to and you began to ring all the clothes up on a scanner gun. this gun is set to tell you if anything is on sale or needs to be mark down.

Too much labor not enough pay
Sale Associate (Current Employee), Crestwood, IL – July 17, 2012
Cons: no breaks, not enough workers on scheduled shift, no job security
Upon coming to Dots I had 6 years of retail experience which should have given me a little more than minimum wage. The job security at Dots is non existent you can lose your job at any second. I do not feel that the people holding management positions are worthy of the title. I have spoken with my co-workers about my complaints with Dots and they're – more... in agreeance. The hardest part of the job is staying motivated to do the job with such harsh conditions and poor pay. – less

My day consist of checking e-mails,sales and fun environment at work and customer service to everyone who walked through the door!
Store Manager (Former Employee), Lansing, IL – July 16, 2012
Pros: love working with people!
Cons: advancement
A typical day included checking sales,e-mails,markdowns and visit from district manager or regional manager. Train and develop my staff for the next level like controling shrink and making our sales goals. Also want to make sure I was on the right track for the next level as well. The hardiest part was taking over a shrink store and don't know who to – more... trust. The most enjoyable part of my job is that I love what I do I put my heart and soul into it for the best results hitting our sales goal and a great customer base! – less

Life at DOTS
Store Manager (Former Employee), Philadelphia, PA – July 14, 2012
Pros: the culture and the love i had for the owner and his family.
Cons: not following policies and procedure for termination, allowing no follow ups with the termination process of a 16 year employee.
A typical day at work for me at DOTS would be scheduling, banking, sales review, merchandising, mark-downs, and costumer servicing. While being at DOTS i've learned how to be a team player, a great leader, multi tasker, how to be a successful recruiter and trainer. At DOTS there was not enough support from upper management. My co-workers were great – more... fun loving people like family. The hardest part of being manager of DOTS was having to leave the relationships built between co-workers and customers over the years even my coorperate family, The most enjoyable part of working at DOTS was showing my creativty in visual presentation, as well as meeting and greeting new customers on a daily basis. – less

Poor Company
Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Indianapolis, IN – June 23, 2012
Cons: no breaks, rude customer base, horrible turn over, horrible training
Of all retail places I've worked, Dots was my least favorite. The management turn-over rate is horrible. Not to mention, a level of management, MITs are hired in to become the next store managers. Yet, MITs would quit because other store managers were hired instead. There is not chance to progress is management at this job. The customer base is ghetto, – more... high maintenance, and rude. Ecommerce isn't available for customers to purchase online. I cannot think of any perks to working for this company. I was not impressed at all. – less

Productive
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Niagara Falls, NY – June 17, 2012
Pros: great location
Cons: low pay and limited hours
A typical day at work would be processing cash and credit transactions, managing Inventory/ Shipping and maintaining appearance of sales floor. I learned how to use a cash register and how to make bank deposits for a business. I had very civilize relationships with my co-workers. The hardest part about the job there was a lot of down time. The most enjoyable – more... part of the job was that it was in walking distance from where i lived. – less

CAN BE A FUN AND PRODUCTIVE PLACE TO WORK
Assistant Store Manager (Current Employee), Norfolk, VA – June 6, 2012
Pros: taking what you have learned and passing it on.
Cons: not being advanced to a higher level of management
A TYPICAL DAY AT WORK CAN BE FUN AND PRODUCTIVE. YOU MEET A LOT OF FUN AND FRIENDLY PEOPLE . I HAVE LEARNED TO DO MY WORK AND KEEP MY PERSONAL LIFE TO MYSELF. THE CO-WORKERS CAN BE FUN TO WORK WITH , BUT SOME WILL GOSSIP AND TRY TO MAKE YOUR JOB HARD. THE HARDEST PART OF THE JOB IS SHOWING THE DISTRICT MANAGER WHAT YOU CAN DO , DISPITE WHAT HE MAY HAVE – more... BEEN TOLD. THE MOST ENJOYABLE PART OF THE JOB IS FEELING A SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT. – less

Sales Associate (Current Employee), Saint Charles, MO – May 24, 2012
Pros: friendly customers
Cons: no breaks, schedule changes, no call-no shows
Dots could be an amazing job that is fun. You are suppose to give "the girlfriend" experience but that is very hard when the job is so stressful.
