Douglas Scientific is Now Recruiting Awesome Embedded Systems Engineers

Who are we? Douglas Scientific is a rapidly growing biotech company located in Alexandria, MN. We’re a global leader in high throughput laboratory automation based on our patented Array TapeTM technology. We think that Douglas Scientific is an awesome place to work and we’re looking for equally awesome people to join our team! We’re currently accepting applications for the position of Embedded Systems Engineer. To learn more about us, check out www.douglasscientific.com.

Who are you? A brilliant embedded designer and programmer excited to work on a multidisciplinary team developing laboratory instrumentation that changes the world. You just can’t get enough of architecting, implementing, and optimizing embedded control solutions. You love solving hard problems and laugh in the face of ugly deadlocks. You thrive in a hardworking, fun loving culture where tough problems are solved, transparency and openness are encouraged, and bad puns and good humor abound. You possess a self-motivated mindset, the ability to learn quickly, a strong aptitude for coding, good communication skills, a passion for innovation, and a desire to be part of an adaptable, energized, fast moving team!

What do you know? In rough order of priority, you know the following:

*Linux and/or other operating systems used for embedded, real-time applications – Do you possess the power of the penguin?

*C/C++, JavaScript, Linux scripting, other OOP – What languages do you speak?

*SBCs, SoCs, and embedded microprocessors (e.g. ARM) – They rule the world.

*FPGA design using Verilog or VHDL – It’s just logical.

*Stepper / servo motor control – It’s OK if you’re a control freak.

*Circuits and electronics (at least at a basic level) – Ohm’s law anyone?

*PCB layout and troubleshooting (would be a plus) – Like little highways for electrons.

*Unit testing / CI – We know you already write perfect code, but just in case.

*Agile development methodologies – Don’t go chasing waterfalls.

What do we offer? Besides the aforementioned awesomeness, Douglas Scientific offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package that includes an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), 401(k) match, medical, dental, life and disability insurance, along with holiday pay and paid time off.
