Waitress/Intern (Current Employee) – Dover, DE – May 7, 2014
I am a bartender, we normally get 4 shifts a week. work either 10:30am-6 or 5pm-1am. It does get busy from time to time, my coworkers are can be a pain sometimes but i believe the only reason for that is because it is a bunch of females. i love meeting new people at my job the customers are hilarious and can hold a great conversation.
Guest Room Attendant (Current Employee) – Dover, DE – June 12, 2017
The pay is not equivalent to the amount of work you do. I've worked there for a number of years and have yet to make more than $9 an hr. There is no room for advancement in this dept. Half of the supervisors no longer care about the cleanliness of the rooms which sucks. I don't advise anyone to work in that dept. or stay at the hotel.
Security Officer (Former Employee) – Dover, DE – June 8, 2017
Management do not know how to talk to their employees underneath them and there was a lot of discrimination going on in my former department. Which is one of the many reasons why they cannot keep officers on top of lack of pay and favoritism
Line Cook/Prep Cook (Current Employee) – Dover, DE – May 3, 2017
The only people in the F&B department of Dover Downs that make any money, besides the upper management or head chefs are the servers. Every week the servers go home with at least double the back of house pay. The line cooks and dishwashers do the hardest work and aren't even paid more than $10 average.
Some good co-workers.
pay, massive turn-over, lack of care from upper management.
Slot Gaming Technician (Former Employee) – Dover, DE – May 2, 2017
No respect for life, not open to new ideas, very closed minded management, seeking to blame others for failures. Stuck in the mud management, not moving forward and into the modern world of both company ideas as well as life management. Looking for same, stork type individuals who are easily intimidated and walk with their head down. If you step out of the box, they feel threatened. If you have a new idea, they stomp on it instead of embracing it. Management is high-minded, egotistical and have no life as a result of having a more secure feeling staying in the work environment vs. experiencing life through action and adventure.
Food is discounted and 8 hour day including lunch.
Server/Bartender (Former Employee) – Dover, DE – January 25, 2017
Dover Downs can be a fun place to work, the customers for the most part are awesome. I worked various hours many times staying late when other servers wanted to leave early. Unfortunately, I have to give management a bad review. When dealing with internal issues, they fail to effectively solve the problem. The lack of integrity is a growing issue. They continue to hire people with poor work ethics.
Bartender/Server (Former Employee) – Dover, DE – December 19, 2016
The managers don't seem to know what they are doing. In my whole time of working there, there was favoritism. HR office wont take care of harassment issues in the work place. The income was the only thing that kept me there.

utility porter (Former Employee) – Dover, DE – October 15, 2016
dover downs inc. was an aweful place to work, we were mistreated in wages and benefits. staff was friendly for the most part, but we were understaff almost all the time. I learned how to cope with stressful situations better, how to work effectively with my coworkers in order to get the job done. still though, it could have been a better experience.
Banquets & Buffet Server (Former Employee) – Dover, DE – May 18, 2016
Very great work place and overall good experience. There were always workers and managers available to help aid with a smooth work experience. Everyone worked together as a team to achieve our goals and making the customers happy with the experience at our establishment.
Pantry Cook/Cashier (Current Employee) – Dover, DE – April 19, 2016
It is very unprofessional and the coworkers are terribly rude. Management do not care about the staff. There is a high turn-over rate and the hardest part of the job is walking on egg shells around the managers.
Hotel Concierge (Former Employee) – Dover, DE – November 4, 2015
A typical day at the dover downs hotel fun but i learned that unity is nowhere to be found management can"t see or spot real professional talent. Now my co-workers most of them i would say are ok at best but some are cut thoart haters, the hardest part of the job was assisting the valet people and the most enjoyable was working my station the concierge desk helping people and collecting menus.
