I really enjoyed working for Dow Corning Corporation. I was challenged everyday and given many opportunities to learn new things.

Overall, it is a good company to work for. I found my co-workers across the company to be supportive and easy to work with.

I was lucky to spend 19.3 years with this corporation and I had the opportunity to work all over the world for them. They value safety in the workplace and encourage advancement for their employees.

Very diverse chemistry

Like: Co-workers are great to work with and are willing to help.

Dislike: Management is changing.

The hardest part of my job is knowing what to work on because of the diverse nature of what is expected.

Like: Working in manufacturing where people can be honest.

• As Dow Corning marketing intern, researched and analyzed several product markets via telephone interviews, industry reports and internal data mining.
• Presented findings of research and suggested path to market changes and competitive analysis to senior management.

Third Party Management:

• As a business development intern at Silicon products giant – more...  Dow Corning, I developed and implemented a distribution agreement & relationship for a $200,000,000.00 market. I took a struggling product and set a goal to increase from 20-30% market share to 45-55% market share. Last communication I had with them was that the project was moving on track.
• Also at the CMU Research Corporation I was contracted by a non-profit (The Michigan Molecular Institute) to import a Japanese technology and put it to work with an emphasis on including a local Special Needs program in the process. – less

I spent 25 years at Dow Corning and seen them grow a great deal. I was able to return to school and was encouraged and supported in my growth. The employees support each other and want to do what they can to help Dow Corning succeed. In recent years, there were changes in management and inconsistencies that will improve with time. Great company to work for with great work / life balance. The only downside is the job security.

I worked there from 1986-2012. I learned many skills over my years there. Skills learned: SAP, Lean Management, Outlook, Excel, Six Sigma Green Belt. Put in many hours into my jobs and skills over the years.

I was issued a blackberry and spent all of my personal time checking for updates on issues.

Management was unsupportive of issues and would rather place blame.

I believe this is an isolated issue and the company as a whole is decent.

I worked at Dow Corning from 1995 until I was laid off in 2009. Other then being stuck working for the wrong boss at the wrong time my experience with the company was a positive one. Fairly open corporate culture. I found the satellite locations were more relaxed then the Midland headquarters. Good chance for advancement. You have to drive your own – more...  career but they give you good tools to do it with. The HR department is a little week but they have world class manufacturing and IT organizations. If the opportunity presented it's self, I would work for them again. – less
