It takes a village to own a hospital, and Doylestown Hospital is owned by the local women's civic organization Village Improvement Association. Founded in 1923, the hospital serves Bucks and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania (near Philadelphia) and Hunterdon and Mercer counties in neighboring New Jersey. With some 240 beds, Doylestown Hospital provides a variety of acute and tertiary medical services. Specialties include cardiac surgery, cancer care (as part of the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Network), and orthopedics. Affiliated with the hospital are Pine Run Health Care Center, a long-term care facility, and Pine Run Lakeview, an assisted-living center.
The hospital employs some 420 doctors across 40 specialties, including radiology, gastroenterology, urology, and pulmonology. Doylestown is also a certified chest pain center (via The Woodall Chest Pain Center) and a joint commission-certified primary stroke center. – less
