Have no issues, management will work with you, pay could be better, has old school work environment, very big campus, laid back atmosphere but can get crazy to meet deliveries (internal and external)

Great Oil & Gas Company To Start!
Electronics Inspector I (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXJuly 6, 2016
I enjoyed my tenure here and would recommend this company as an idea place to start in the industry! I have nothing but good to say for this company as they helped me realize what skills would benefit me in the long run. Great place to work other than I did not enjoy the machine shop as much due to the communication therein.
Pros
Lot's of work at times
Cons
Overbearing management as times.

NC Technician (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXJune 3, 2016
Generally friendly environment, with fairly easy going relationship between crew and leaders. Most crew leaders display genuine concern for crewmembers. I, personally enjoyed my tenure.
Pros
Coffee provided, flexible PTO policy.
Cons
Some mild racism.

Service Technician (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXJune 2, 2016
On call 24hr a day as a service tech. Driving to the heliport and flying out to the drill-ship. Most guys are great to work with and will help you along the way. You will learn a lot during each job, Training is on the job training. Hardest part is taking everything in as quick as you can. Best part of the job is you will only work offshore and not at the shop and you will be given a truck and gas paid for.
Pros
Off while at the house
Cons
on call 24hrs

Auwful Place /Mentality 60s /Nott recommended
Subsea Engineer (Former Employee) –  subsea controlMay 30, 2016
Worked there as a professional engineer. Unfortunately for two years. Job market was awful and couldn't get out earlier .
Manager of Subsea control is Pu..yCat and scare to help his team.
Culture of CEO s is 50s or 60s . They made a hill in front of the company to no one see inside(Guess the rest) .
Cheap , unprofessional environment ,Not good if you are experienced (you should keep your experience for yourself ).
It is probably good place if your compensation is $7 to $12 per hour . If you worth more than that forget about that place .Don't waste your life in that Junk place.
Pros
Police stop the traffic when you will go home(Most Pros)
Cons
Treat the Engineer as a $7/hr Worker

No place for a young mind trying to advance. Very clickish and not a place for a go getter , you'll be stepping on toes ! I wish management only knew.

machinist (Former Employee) –  houston, texasJanuary 6, 2016
If you enjoy being constantly watched by supervisors and other flunkies who have no ambition other than trying to intimidate and ridicule the hourly workers. Then this place is for you. They replaced many full time , long employed machinists with contract workers. Their excuse is work slow down. They have idea or intention to treat the employees with respect or fairness. It is a loathsome company to work for. It wasn't always that way. It has been getting steadily worse in the past 3 years.
Pros
You can smoke in the shop.
Cons
Too many to list.

Alot of work without much reward
Design Engineer (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXNovember 10, 2015
A company very much stuck in the past, and struggling to adapt to an evolving work landscape. While starting salaries are competitive and they try to remain competitive while you're there with salary, don't expect to learn much from your reviews. The company is very strict on both hourly and salary employees. There is little room for advancement as the company has no middle management to speak of and knows this and uses it for its advantage. Employees cycle out after 2-3 years of experience when the economy is good, and the company replenishes with new employees.

The company does try to ahead of its competitors by developing new products, but they are far and few between. These projects are reserved for the privileged few, so don't get your hopes up unless you have the "good ol boy" attitude. Most of the time you will be stuck working on the same projects ad nauseum

Every group is different and you may have a positive experience working there, but the common factor is upper management micromanages way more than is required. There are good young managers who are aware of the problems, but seem handcuffed by their superiors.

For benefits, the health coverage is good but not much room for variety, dental coverage is good, and some vision assistance is provided. 401(k) matching is below average compared to the competitors and no bonuses are provided. There are no other added benefits unless you are management, and they are very strict on work hours. You're expected to work late and on weekends with a smile on your face and not reap any rewards.
Pros
Good place to start your career, friendly people, good facilities
Cons
No room for advancement, benefits are average for below average work enviroment

Senior Project Engineer (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXNovember 1, 2015
as with most companies, your experience is more about your immediate boss than the company. I had a great boss for 14 years. Benefits were somewhat smaller than usual. PTO was used instead of vacation and sick days, which means that if you had some illness, you didn't get a vacation. I was in a good group with good coworkers.
Pros
good pay, regular pay raises
Cons
PTO instead of vacation and sick days

machinist (Former Employee) –  houstn txOctober 25, 2015
Great facility with lots of potential in the business. Well diversified on their product line. Ok pay and lots of hours. the down side is the environment that supervisors and "Lead man" create out of this, otherwise good place to work for, and the outdated equipment, technology and methods that are still stuck well into the 70's and 80's. You can feel the negative atmosphere from the first day you walk in. the supervisors are the most unprofessional, unethical, and condescending jerks who act like they own the place and run it like "the godfather" or Al Capone ran the business. They will rarely help anyone who can't find the right fixturing, tooling etc to get the job done properl, most of the time because of their lack knowledge or just because they expect for amployees to just figure it out. yet, they love yelling at people "get the f out my shop" for no reason. they love talking down on the ones they don't like any time they feel like it. No matter how good of an employee someone may be, if one member of the pack doesn't like you just because of the way you look, you've got the whole posse on you until they find a the best way to get rid of you. Or they'll just make your life miserable until you leave on your own. Worked there a few years and I saw many nice and exceptional machinists get fired just because they didn't fit in... only the ones who will take abuse without saying anything back just to keep a job and the brown nose survive this place
Pros
lots of hours. decent pay
Cons
no breaks. mob like management. outdated equipment and tooling

Manufacturing Engineer (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXJune 10, 2015
Dril-Quip is a rather large facility with a small facility culture. It is filled with many, many intelligent and well seasoned employees. Due to its size experiences working there vary based on department. I personally feel that if management was provided with the proper training the work environments may prove to be less caustic.
Pros
Decent benefits
Cons
Salary forced to work scheduled Sats., Parking, Pay, Management, Disrespect..
