DRS was a great company to work for. The day went by extremely fast with all the work there was to do. The hardest part of my job was passing the testing and the most enjoyable part of my job was that there was always something to keep you busy.

Gained valuable experience with a great team of colleagues.
Executive Assistant (Former Employee), Parsippany, NJSeptember 17, 2012
Pros: great boss! good benefits, good people to work with.
Cons: disconnect between management, their direct reports, and those under them.
The team and primarily my Boss was great to work with and for during my years at DRS Technologies, Inc. I gained a lot of information about how tax is determined in a large corporation as well as general Operations knowledge. A typical day was limited to my boss's needs at that moment, but any day was usually varied and determined by which tax project – more... the team was working on at that moment. My day generally included answering the phone, scheduling, travel, appointments and meeting planning. As part of the team, I assisted with large tax filings and other tax-related projects. The team was also quite varied, and I enjoyed working in the environment with my co-workers. They -- and the pulse of the department -- were the most enjoyable part of my job. The hardest was that in the industry, great changes had been occurring and as a result of those changes, the break-down of management. There was a very large disconnect between upper level management and those under them. – less

A typical day at work
Internal Communications Manager (Current Employee), Parsippany, NJAugust 1, 2012
Pros: career advancement, training
Cons: due to a declining defense industry, the company has been forced to cut back on the number of employees
A typical day at work at DRS Technologies involved hitting a number of deadlines and constantly being up to date on the latest trends in order to communicate them to employees. I come in early to pull industry news together into a newsletter and send out to a distribution list. Then, I work on getting daily content on to our digital media boards. Throughout – more... the day, I spend time editing and writing content for the website, intranet, and newsletters that are sent out monthly to employees. – less

Mechanical Engineer/EHS Coordinator (Former Employee), Polson, MTJuly 27, 2012
Pros: open door policy
Cons: very little professional leadership
Has a lack of professional aptitude toward coworkers. Needs to have a stricter approach to policies and procedures for all employees to follow. The benefits package is one of the best in the business.

Manual fab that left things in control of those on the floor.
Manual Wafer Fabrication Technician (Former Employee), Dallas, TXJuly 3, 2012
Pros: good pay, good benefits, and unsupervised work.
Cons: military budget that required reduction in workforce.
I ran oxide and metal etch, plasma ash and oxide deposition. I also worked with an Ion Mill taking care of cooled material. The cooled material was for our targeting and acquisition products for military application. I took a great deal of pride in knowing that the products I made helped our soldiers in achieving tactical superiority in the field. We – more... had a diverse group of employees at DRS and I enjoyed working with people of different cultures. – less
