I worked there for them in Vallejo, I liked the company but some of the employees are rude or lazy or both. I can’t work with someone in leadership who lack people and communication skills. If you want to clean restrooms and be in two places at the same time then this is the place for you.
DSW was a great company to work for and was a place were people loved to work. But in recent years it has become just average. Communication only flows down and you will ostracize if you try to give any opinions that differs from the company. The workload was out of control and payroll was horrible at times. Company directives would change daily without any idea of the time it took to do tasks..Signing customer up with rewards program became an obsession, resulting in losing many good employees. Upper management needs to lose the chip on their shoulders and be more of a positive force when visiting and appreciate how hard everyone was working.
The people that work at the store level are great people and customer are awesome. The employee discount is nice and the hours are ok for retail. The company online business is very good and they added kids so that's helping business as well.
It is so fun to work at DSW. My coworkers are so fun and outgoing that it hardly ever feels like we are at work. Some days and shifts are a bit more tiring than others, but everyone will work together to get through it and end on a positive note.
