Teams are understaffed/overworked
Engineer (Current Employee) –  Alpharetta, GAAugust 20, 2016
Technical teams at E*TRADE are small. Very small. Teams, or perhaps I should say "teams", that support critical systems are usually one or two person operations. Couple this with a change/break fix culture that requires changes to begin no earlier than 8PM. The upshot to all this is that if you are part of a "team" that supports something that needs frequent updates, you will find that you are working the entire work day and then spending half your night implementing changes.
Pros
Compensation, PTO, Flexible Hours, Work From Home
Cons
Change window starts at 8PM, Slow to adopt modern rollout techniques

Productive Fun Place to work, room for advancement
Business Analyst (Former Employee) –  Alpharetta, GAAugust 3, 2016
Working on new product enhancements (public website/internal site).
-Solving for root cause analysis for process flows, and assisted technology and business with automating processes.
-Learned Brokerage Business and how projects are prioritized for the certain divisions in the company and through the entire organization.
-Management is solid, but changes often within the company.
-The people at Etrade are very good and committed to seeing the company move forward.
-Some projects were difficult to get all parties onboard with the direction of the project.
-Best part of my job was fixing and building products that would improve the market share for the company.
.
Pros
Good Healthcare, Dental, Vison, 401k

Great Place to get started
Senior Equity Compensation Specialist (Current Employee) –  Alpharetta, GAJuly 6, 2016
Great place to get started in the brokerage business, as they pay you while studying for your licensing as well as pay for you to take the licensing exams.

Management is concerned with the short terms goals of the business, i.e. weekly/monthly goals, which can prevent employee advancement long term.

You learn everything from market knowledge, to operations processes in these roles I have had.

I am just looking to have a bigger impact on my next organization.
Pros
compensation, benefits, overtime possibilities
Cons
cant be too fast paced at times, average management

productive and fun place to work
QA Analyst (Current Employee) –  Jersey City, NJAugust 2, 2016
Love the company
Great people, young culture. Do what they can to help you grow as much as possible. Open door policy with management, I feel very comfortable if I need to speak with someone in upper management. The work is a grind and very hard, but if you are a hard worker and detailed oriented you should be fine.

Principal Engineer, Security Engineering (Current Employee) –  Alpharetta, GAMay 18, 2016
Good number of smart people who are passionate about their jobs. Relatively flat structure where you can get things done/make a difference if you are willing to put in the effort. Few egos. Limited opportunities for growth.

Director, Business Support - Product Management (Former Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 29, 2016
ETRADE is a very fast paced organization. There is plenty of opportunity to learn and grow. The hardest part of the job is maintaining work life balance. The most enjoyable aspect are the people.

Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (Current Employee) –  Jersey City, NJAugust 16, 2016
OK place to work depending on your location. The fact that the company is spread out really prevents growth.
Current layoffs have caused morale and productivity to drop.

A typical day is very busy but the teams works so well together that the challenges are achievable. While there are designated titles, my experience has been that it is a flat organization.

Branch Service Representative (Former Employee) –  New York, NYNovember 16, 2015
My job would consist of greeting clients and assisting them with check deposits, wire transfers, Account transfer forms. I was able to teach clients how to use the Etrade website for their individual needs. But I loved meeting new people and connecting them with the right financial consultant to help them. I also loved making their day easier by ensuring all paperwork was filled out properly and just listening.
Pros
Free lunches and not working weekends any more
Cons
Needed a brokers license for a basic customer service position.
