Eden II Programs is dedicated to enabling the children and adults with autism that it serves in New York City and Long Island to achieve the highest quality of life throughout their lives in school, in the community, at work and at home. The Eden II School was founded in 1976 on Staten Island with six children and one special education teacher, and over the past 25 years, Eden II’s highly successful model has lead to the expansion and development of a number of programs and services for individuals with autism.
The Eden II Programs are looking for Direct Support Professionals to work F/T and Per-Diem in our Residences in Suffolk county. The responsibilities of the qualified candidates are listed below:
1.Work with consumers on all individual program plans and provide on-going active treatment.
2.Adhere to agency consumer protection and occurrence reporting requirements, as well as other applicable agency policies and procedures.
3.Provide the Interdisciplinary Team with information regarding consumers so as to aid in the development of Individual Program Plans.
4.Attend all scheduled meetings and in-service trainings within the residence.
5.Be familiar with fire and emergency procedures and participate in fire drills.
6.Collect and record all necessary daily data.
7.Assist in transporting consumers to and from recreational activities and other necessary appointments as needed.
8.Implement goals as prescribed in the areas of speech and language, ADL skills, recreation and behavior modification.
9.Administer medication upon completion and certification in medical administration course.
10.Maintain SCIP-R, First Aid, and CPR certification.
11.Perform housekeeping tasks as designated by a supervisor. This may include tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, clothing repair, clothing inventory, grocery shopping, keeping and inventory of residence property.
12.Assist with recreation and leisure activities.
13.Provide a safe and clean environment for the consumers, where appropriate and effective treatment takes place at all times.
14.Prepare specific meals for all consumers within the residence. Organize all aspects of breakfast and dinner meals in conjunction with the nutritional consultant and the posted menu.
15.Assist with food ordering and purchasing of kitchen supplies under the direction of the Residence Manager.
16.Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and the dining areas.
17. Ensure furniture and household equipment of the residence are well maintained and repair/replaced as necessary.
18. Perform laundry duties as needed.
19. Accompany and advocate for consumers on all necessary medical appointments.
20. All other duties as assigned.
1.Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
2.Experience working with individuals with disabilities, experience with autism preferred.
3.Valid NYS driver license.
4.Must be able to work with and handle difficult behaviors from adult males and females with Autism.
