About Eaglesong

EagleSong is a family owned business started in 1994. We live year round at EagleSong and have raised our four children here. We like to think EagleSong has something of interest for all ages. Our business is small and we cater to no more than a maximum of 8 guests at any one time. We have lived in Alaska for over thirty years now and have fished, hunted, – more... snowmachined, and hiked the area in which we now live for over twenty years.

EagleSong is as much a functioning Alaskan bush homestead as it is a remote wilderness get-away. We have a multitude of vegetable and flower gardens, farm animals, and pets. You can observe our on-going construction of new guest cabins and out buildings using hand scribed log construction from logs cut and milled on site. There is always some sort of woodcarving, leatherwork, furniture making and numerous other craft projects going on at EagleSong.

Depending on the time of year there is berry picking, gathering of wild herbs, viewing dozens of species of birds and of course moose, bear, wolf, coyote, fox, porcupine, beaver, marten and a variety of other wildlife.

EagleSong on Trail Lake is located 40 miles northwest of Anchorage along the Iditarod National Historic Trail. It is accessible only by floatplane in the summer. Our terrain at EagleSong varies from 216 feet on Trail Lake itself to over 4000 feet on Mt. Susitna (Sleeping Lady).

Trail Lake itself is not large (1/2 mile x 1 mile), but the northern pike fishing can be very good. Pike in excess of 40" and 10 lbs. are not at all unusual. There is good fishing for them all summer long. On Trail Lake, the more sun and the warmer it is the better the fishing tends to be. We like to fish for them with spoons, plugs, cut bait and flies (mouse patterns and streamers). A good percentage of the lake has a cut bank shoreline and the pike love to set up under the bank looking out into the lake for something to strike at. Based on that principle a good part of our fishing is done from a boat or float tube 20-30 yards from shore.

Other fishing opportunities available at EagleSong include rainbow trout, arctic grayling and salmon (king, silver, pink & chum). Fishing for these species are done in mountain tributaries of Alexander Creek. They are classic clear water mountain streams accessible by two different trails that originate at EagleSong. One of these streams has been designated a "Trophy Class" stream so trout and grayling are catch and release. Trout and grayling can be caught all summer long. Silver, pink and chum salmon run the last week of July through August.

Have an interest in photographing wildlife? We offer some very unique and productive areas for photographing brown bear, black bear, moose, wolf, fox, nesting bald eagles and more. Over 42 species of birds call EagleSong home during the summer. Our winter photo opportunities are quite unique, as well.

Our cabins have kitchenettes in them and sleep 4 guests. Delicious country styles meals are available for those that wish to be catered. If meals are desired they must be coordinated prior to your arrival. All cabins are equipped with utensils, linen, wood stove, propane cook stoves/oven and BBQ grills. Each cabin has a boat/motor for use on the lake included with it.

We specialize in custom packages for individuals and groups. Fly-fishing is our specialty. We can accommodate any level of fly fisher. – lessMore from ZoomInfo »
