EBVE operated with a small, hard working and dedicated staff. Working in a low income area, I found it challenging to work with clients that had limited resources to care for their animals in emergency situations. But the challenge led me to create an Angel Fund within our hospital to help pay for minor treatments to help the families in need until they could contact other services to help them pay for the care their animals required.
The adrenaline rush of taking in a crashing patient, rushing to place IV cathedars, medicating and treating was by far my favorite part of the job. I got to enhance my clinical skills at EBVE and learned that I preferred fast-pace, high volume, situations where the only expectation is to go, go, go, go!
