Eastern International College is seeking an Technical Support Specialist. The Technical Support Specialist will be mainly responsible for the smooth running of computer systems and ensure users get maximum benefits from them. Individual tasks vary, but may include:

  • installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications;
  • monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks;
  • talking staff through a series of actions, either face to face or over the telephone to help set up systems or resolve issues;
  • troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults;
  • replacing parts as required;
  • setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;
  • working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate);
  • prioritizing and managing many open cases at one time;
  • testing and evaluating new technology;

A postgraduate qualification is not necessary for entry to this position. However, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) qualifications (for Windows Server 2003-based solutions) or the Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) qualification (for newer technologies) may be a plus. The CompTIA A+ and/or CompTIA Network Plus is required a plus with at least 3 years’ experience.
