Excellent place to work
owner (Current Employee), vallejo,ca – April 25, 2013
Pros: private owned
Cons: long days getting everything up an running
A typical day could start anywere from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. just depends if someone is asking a question or ordering an item from are business. Since starting the the Ebay store I've learned how to deal with everybody needs an wants, also finding the best way to get the product to the customer if it's here in the Untied state or overseas, An as part owner – more... in the company the management part of the business is hard because it just you an no room for mistakes. An the the best part of the job is that it's my business, an i get to see how everything is run from finding product to purchase for the store, to picturing , to listing , an finally selling the item an shipping it. – less

Organized working environment
Ebay Helper Clerk (Former Employee), Stanwood, WA – April 24, 2013
Pros: shipping experience, problem solving
Cons: on call.
As a helper of Ebay I helped "iseaclear" with packaging, printing labels and managing how many items they had. I learned a lot about problem solving, organization and shipping out items. Management was fine they weren't around much. My co-workers were great people as well as very helpful. The most difficult part of my job was dealing with on call. I – more... had no time set for when to go to work. The most enjoyable part was having down time, organizing, keeping count and shipping out items. Overall, It's not a job I would like for a career but it was great experience. – less

Ebay's guidelines and policies are not fair to sellers and are more geared to buyers.

Competitive, Rewarding
Salesman (Current Employee), FL – April 17, 2013
Selling is very competitive but rewarding. Its a risk at times trying to make a profit off items I buy for cheap, but more than half of the time I come off on top. Selling on eBay is a thrill.

Best company I've ever worked for; worst job I've ever had.
Business Rules Analyst (Former Employee), Draper UT – April 9, 2013
Pros: lax dress code, free soda, many private phone booths for private conversations, plenty of parking.
Cons: ability to make a positive difference was not possible.
eBay is a fabulous company to work for, the benefits are incredible. The ability to make change, roll out streamlined policy/procedure is not possible. Overall job satisfaction / happiness in the workplace was low for myself. This is the reason why I ultimately left the company.

Average
State Licensed Security Officer (Former Employee), South Jordan, UT – April 4, 2013
Pros: location, people pretty relaxed due to dress code.
Cons: stuffy management, respect for others dependant upon job title.
Ok but not place I would want to retire with. Management ok to work with but friendly and respectful to hand picked co-workers. Not the best employee morale.

Acquisition has jeopardized the company moral
Staff Accountant (Current Employee), King of Prussia, PA – March 25, 2013
Ebay aquired GSI Commerce Inc. in July 2011. They are currently under reconstruction so I can say that the moral is very low. Many of the individuals that supported the company for many years has left. In addition, there is no room for advancement at my current location.

Was a great place to work at one point. Very family oriented.
Office of the President (Former Employee), Draper Utah – March 18, 2013
Pros: great benefits, a lot of diversity, lot of opportunity for growth and travel.
Cons: corporate, managed breaks that border on incarceration, slowly losing human values.
This used to be a smaller company with values and an identity. They have grown so fast and have lost so much along the way. They have become a prime example of a modern U.S. corporation with little in the way of human values thrown in and only a look at the bottom line.

There are members of management within the company though that are stellar in all – more... regards and taught me so much along the way. – less

Great way to make money, be your own boss and stay at home.
Owner/Operator (Current Employee), Fenton, MO – March 12, 2013
Pros: set own hours, work out of my home, able to spend more time with my children.
Cons: not a real feeling of achievement, no "human contact".
I have been buying storage units and items from estate sales for close to five years and then turning around and selling the most valuable items on ebay. ebay is a wonderful in that you can set your own hours and work at your own pace. The only "con" I have with working out of my home is that I don't have contact with "real" people as I would working – more... outside the home at a business. I miss that human contact and look forward to getting back into the work force outside my home. – less

Great pay, but poor work-life balance and mobility
People Manager (Current Employee), CA – March 9, 2013
Pros: decent pay, nice people
Cons: no work-life balance, very slow upward mobility
eBay talks a good game about their commitment to career development, but it's unsubstantiated. They hire most directors from outside the organization, and it takes years working around the clock to get bumped even a single level. In my department, the workday never ends -- emails pour in during evenings and weekends. In addition, it's difficult to get – more... projects done due to poor decision-making practices and lack of clear roles/ownership. The company is very top heavy -- too many chiefs vying for power. And there are a lot of very poor people managers, who do not seem particularly troubled by their lack of ability in the area. Coming in below director level means you won't get a seat at the table. On the positive side, many of the people are very nice, and the pay is more than competitive. – less

A good place to work and develop
Billing Analyst (Former Employee), Shanghai, China – February 18, 2013
Pros: incentive program, meal allowance, free breakfast and afternoon tea, two days-one night outing, etc.
Cons: none.
* On a daily basis, check yesterday posted payments, review today new incoming payments, summarize current billing issues and tool bugs and send daily report to management and related teams. Research and post current unmatched payments, in the meanwhile, analyse existing billing issues and help teammates to resolve their problems.
* Audit teammates' – more... posted payments. Deliver training to new hires and mentoring them. Cooperate with global process manager to design payment process workflow. Support manager to handle projects.
* As a back-end team, sometimes it is hard to satisfy customers, so need to set up more meetings with customer service supervisors from front-end teams to discuss customer cares.
* During the teamwork, it is interesting to discover the unique qualities of each person, and things will go well if I can find the consensus. – less
