BEWARE OF THIS SECURITY JOB!!
FORMER SECURITY OFFICER (Former Employee), Spartanburg,South Carolina –
Cons: read above
I was there as a security officer and the entire time I was there both the "Head Guy" and the "Next in command" harrassed me with all kinds of unwelcome comments such as "Man...that sure is a nice package you got there in your pants" and "I think its time we go in the back and have Samoan relations" and "Oh you look soooo hot today. (Keeping in mind – more...  all of us were males, and I'm NOT gay). Also comments like " Why don't you come sit on my lap and let's talk" . Whatever you do, do not ask any questions of the "Head Guy" because , he will get between you and the door and curse you like a junk yard dog, If you take this job, God help you! These so called security supervisors have no business even calling themselves "Security" in the first place., THAT "HEAD GUY" IS DANGEROUS. He, the "Head Guy" has a very serious anger problem that is totally out of control, unprofessional, and totally wrong for working with the public. Mandatory anger management is recommended at the very least. Hospitalization is also a good idea for him to get meds. to control his anger before someone ends up getting hurt. I didn't let on, just worked my notice and left the state for another job. – less

Good bonus structure, but poor life-work balance requirement
FINANCE/SALES (Former Employee), Pine Brook, NJ –
Good bonus structure, up to 40% bonus every months. However, there is little negotiation on hours and even paid time off as there seems to be little redundancy among and within the departments. Management was available, but then did not respond to creative streamlining improvements unless they were advised to do so as per a predetermined project.

Performance based, fast paced, no time to waste working enviroment.
Field Service Manager (Current Employee), Loveland, CO –
My typical day starts a 6 am and goes until all the techs are finished with their work. usually 12 to 14 hours. I have learned a lot through the leadership/mamagement training programs that Dish has had me attend. The higher management levels are not really in touch with what the field personnel run into on a daily basis. Very little information is – more...  asked for from the field and what is given is not always used. Moral is low. It is the only place I have ever worked that I feel my position could be gone withing 30 minutes. My co-workers are my office are some of the best I have worked with and some of the other field personnel I have met are very good at ttheir postions. – less

Audits and more.
Operation Analysis (Current Employee), Englewood, CO –
Pros: hours be in anytime before 9am
Cons: benefits.
Morning starts with daily reports analyzing data. Then doing audits for one single retailer at a time. Also make phone calls to retailers to see if they are fallowing business rules. Making sure you are hitting the productivity for the day. I learn more and more about excel and searching accounts. The management at one point was hard to work with, each – more...  coach didn't communicate with each other causing confusion among each analysis but now that has been changing. Most managers are there for your and continue to strive to make promotions achievable. My co workers are pretty close like a family there is a few that don't care to be part of the team or negative all the time but for the most part everyone participates. The hardest part of my job is getting different types of duties with no direction. The most enjoyable is making birthday and anniversary posters for retail services. hitting goals and accomplishing tasks on time. – less

A Job Not A Career Move
Sales Representative (Current Employee), pine brook nj –
Pros: better than being unemployed
Cons: at least u have the chance to earn a paycheck
there is a churn and burn mentality for the sales associates where they replace people rather that "fix" problems as they occur. The boiler room mentality is to make the salethe sales associate be damned. Associates struggle to keep pace and the turnover rate has to approach 25 percent a year

I benefited from my employment at Dish Network with the knowledge and experience I gained in areas with customer support and multi tasking.
Technical Support Representative (Former Employee), Alvin, TX –
Pros: gained administrative experience, increased my ability to multi task.
My position at this job was a TSR1, I handled escalated calls, technical calls and customer service calls. On occasion I would take spanish calls. I would speak to technicians to modify work orders and created accounts under certain circumstances. I spoke to third party sellers and resolved customer's issues to the best of my ability. Dish helped me – more...  gain confidence in handling issues where company policy would cause customer disatisfaction. – less

Technical Support/Customer Service Representative (Current Employee), Alvin, TX –
Pros: opportunity, perks, benefits, nice environment
Cons: poor scheduling, constant change, minimal structure, low pay, constant flux
There is much the company can improve on. Opportunities for advancement could be provided. Pay increases for adding skillsets ought to be introduced. The Company should be more flexible with their employees who are the backbone of the company.

Advanced tech support agent (Former Employee), Littleton, CO –
Pros: pay
Cons: healthcare was not the best.
come in, log in take up to 45-60 calls a day. learned how the tv system work from the uplink center to every custmers home, I did not have to manage any one. but if any one meed any help i was there for them, due to the fact that sometimes managers where not on the floor. most of the co-workers where out going and fun to be around. For the most part – more...  custmers are calling in for billing or tech help, the hardest part was when you cant help every one over the phone. but the moust enjoyable was when you leave the custmer with a ssmile. – less

I had a good relationship with my co-workers and work well as a team or by myself. the hardest part of the job was no job secuirity. technician- be prepared to have no life
Technician (Former Employee), Nashville, TN –
Pros: dont have sups hoovering over every move, 3 days off a week
Cons: breaks, long days, benefits, nastiness of people's homes
Management/training is solid, if you need help they are there. work with you if you are struggling in a certain area. usually will work with you on sched if you have to take off, pretty good people in those roles. noticed most of the co-workers mostly had a dont care attitude, just there for a check. As far as a typical work day goes, you are suppose – more...  to work 4/10s but plan on it being 4/12-15s, they do give time and half OT, but still does not make up for suppose to be getting off at 5pm and actually not getting off until 7-9pm, lots of driving, ladder work, crawling around in crawl spaces and attacks. Usually peoples houses are nasty, and if you dont like tight dirty spaces its definitely not for you. Its nice to have the freedom while out on the job, usually dont get checked on to much but thy will randomely show up on jobs, big on wearing your PPE. all in all, if you like being outside, driving a lot, working long days, dealing with nasty houses and crawlspaces, hot atticks, dealing with customers and their annoying kids hoovering over your shoulder, and having to do everything at a very fast paced this job is for you. If not don't bother, most techs quit after the month training period, which does not offer enough field time. believe the turn-ovr rate is around 90%, that should tell you a lot right there.Oh and you have to pay a alot out of your check for benefits. – less

Customer Service Specialist (call center) (Former Employee), Alvin, TX –
I loved working at Dish network, the entire company was very forthcoming with information and helping you stride to be the best on your team and with the company as you can be. A typical day at work wass basically getting to your computer setting up having a team meeting to get motivated to start your day....throughout the day the supervisors came around – more...  and made sure you were alright. At the end of the day you never leave all drained and worried. Jusy ready to start your day outside of work. – less
