Pharmacy Manager (Former Employee), Atlanta, GAAugust 30, 2013
Pros: the co does a lot of research and uses stats to inform program decisions and policies.
Cons: above was unrealistic when the situations being measured were not truly represnted by numbers alone, therefore cuts are made at the wrong end of the payscale.
Brooks took over Eck and then Rite Aid took over Brooks. The present co works on what seems to be a sports/game model. Everything is about scores and how one store stands in relation to all of the other stores in the area, so being on the bottom of a list (where high score is "good") is automatically interpreted as being a bad thing. It is rarely, if – more... ever, acknowledged that a low score might actually represent the best that can possibly be achieved and that that may actually be good enough.
The model is based on competition rather than collaboration and middle level management is rated in the same way so that no change in the culture is possible. – less

Great opportunity given to work with Youth
Administrative Coordinator (Former Employee), Fort Pierce, FLJuly 12, 2013
Pros: education and training, detail oriented, confidentiality
Cons: contract with the state ended
I enjoyed working with Eckerd, Inc. due to the opportunity working with troubled youth of my community. My position with Eckerd, Inc. was very flexible and I was able to utilize my skills administratively and in a managerial fashion. I too was pleased with how it was required to keep staff updated with policy and procedures of the Department of Juvenile – more... Justice, HIPAA, Safety procedures, Emergency Situations, etc. On several occaisions the corporate office acknowledged our department with awards, events and other benefits. – less

Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee), Tyrone, GAJuly 4, 2013
Pros: advancement
Cons: short breaks
This was a great place to start before entering into the medical field, it was very fast paced which I really enjoyed. The day was full excitement each day. Interacting with different people each day was a plus for me. My co-workers were great, always willing to help. They hardest part of the job was when it was only the pharmacist and I working and – more... we were super busy and I never really got much help from him. I learned overall how to juggle between tasks and work at an extremely fast pace. – less

Worker (Former Employee), Lauderdale Lakes, FLApril 24, 2013
Most of the employees do not want to be held accountable for their deficiencies in regards to work. As a result, it makes it harder for the people that value their work. Management in all aspects is great but has a lot to overcome with the staff that is under them. The company has high turnover and that is due to the fact that the people hired don't – more... want to put the effort to perform their job responsibilities. Therefore when they leave they are angry and think that something was owed to them. – less

Pros: customers
Cons: advancement
I work 10 hrs days , which is great for me , I have a 81 yr old mother i take care of .. having a day off during the week allows me to keep up with dr appts and the nurses and aids that come take care of her for me . The hardest part of my job I feel is living up to the corporate expectations of their number scale and still feel not rushed in taking – more... care of my customers . The best part of my job is the relationships i have formed with a bunch of my customers . I like to see them and find out how they are doing . – less

Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee), Richmond, VAOctober 10, 2012
Pros: work schedule
Cons: not being heard by upper management
Constantly learning new ways to get sales. As part of management I was eager to learn and to advance to store manager. I learned that I knew how to perform job tasks that I was not always comfortable with such as setting plan-o-grams and entering data into the computer system for inventory purposes. I enjoyed working with my co-workers because that – more... is where the fun was while getting job tasks completed. The hardest part of the job was unloading the truck. The most enjoyable part was talking with customers and helping them with merchandise. Also, learning how to be an effective leader to get desired results. – less

CVS /POD LEADER (Former Employee), South Florida AreaOctober 8, 2012
All operations were done by the manager which would include payroll, scheduling, training, merchandising, shrink control, ordering, and inventory control.
After being promoted to ASDM I found that the operations of 9 stores was more difficult and required a strict schedule to keep the operations of all on track while still maintaining my home store. – more... The co-workers were eager to help and always volunteered for extra duties. Had it not been for the sale of this company I would still be working for them now. – less

Wonderful when it was still Eckerd
Photo Lab Manager/Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee), Gainesville, GAOctober 1, 2012
Pros: store discount plus 20% at jcpenney because they owned eckerd at one point
Cons: management and selling of the eckerd name.
Advancement opportunities were great. I started as a cashier and with in a year was promoted to a key holder. Soon after, this location built a brand new store and it included an Express Photo Lab which I was given. I enjoyed being a salary member of management. I learned more about store operations and dealt with them professionally. The only down – more... side was the store manager. He figured out that they were going to bust him for faking inventory and caused several of his employees to get fired or quit because they questioned things. He also became unbearable to work with. The sense of job security failed when he would make up stories about employees and the district manager would believe him and employees would quit or get fired. Only for the manager himself get fired soon after. – less

Remodel Team Associate (Former Employee), West Palm Beach, FLSeptember 29, 2012
Pros: all expenses paid, perdium pay, traveling, very fun coworkers, great schedules, great employers.
Cons: there were no cons at this job.
All expenses were paid, as my girlfriend and I traveled around remodeling stores' interior. Bosses, and coworkers were a lot of fun, and taught me a lot. The schedule was amazing. When the department was terminated, CVS warned us, paid us severance, and most of us got retainer fees for completing our jobs.
