I worked at EB as a seasonal sales associate. Ive had about 10 years of retail experience and my time there was spent like many other sales positions, assisting customers and other typical retail duties, stock, merchandising, etc. The management for our store was excellent. There was no micro-managing and I was treated with respect.
The overall company philosophy is an admirable one. They offer a 100% lifetime guarantee on everything they sell. When Eddie Bauer founded the company he wanted every customer to be absolutely satisfied with their purchase. The discount wasn't bad either. 50% items you could wear to work and 30% off everything else. The dress code was relaxed as well which is great.
The worst part about this job was that the company decided to close our store. A close second would be the Point of Sale System (POS) which was from 1983 or so. It made transactions very frustrating, especially around the holiday season.
company philosophy, management, store benefits, easy/relaxed dress code
extremely old pos (from the 1980's), store was closed.
