Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of physician, physician assistant, and office manager.
Administrative duties may include but are not limited to answering phones, scheduling appointments, patient check-in/insurance verification, maintaining medical records, billing for insurance purposes (claims transmissions) and follow-up on accounts receivable.
Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs, obtaining accurate medical and surgical histories, updating medication lists and preparing patients and their charts for examination by a provider.
SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM)
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Two (2) years experience in a medical or legal office setting OR certificate from an accredited medical assistant program
- Understanding of medical/legal terminology
- Computer literate (Excel/Word/Adobe)
