El Pollo Loco, Inc., owns, operates and franchise restaurants engaged in marinated, flame-grilled chicken. The Company is a subsidiary of EPL Intermediate, Inc. As of June 28, 2006, the restaurant system had 341 restaurants, consisting of 146 Company-operated and 195 franchised restaurants, located in California, with additional restaurants in Arizona, – more... Nevada, Texas and Illinois. During the fiscal year ended December 31, 2005 (fiscal 2005), it closed one Company-operated and one franchised restaurant and opened six new Company-operated and seven new franchised restaurants. The Company’s restaurant is a freestanding building ranging from approximately 2,200 to 2,600 square feet with seating for approximately 60 customers and offering drive-through convenience.
