Administrative Assistant/Receptionist (Current Employee) –  Warsaw, INAugust 9, 2017
Have only been here 3 months but there seems to have been a consistent shortage of employees for the workload. The company is growing rapidly but additional employees are not being added.

It's an alright place to work for. You have to know the right people to advance.
CNC Grinder (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCJuly 25, 2017
The benefits are decent. The management is alright. The culture could be worked on a bit more. There are some people in positions that shouldn't be. The enviroment was to laid back.

Great people and room for growth, hard to justify pay scales
Manager (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCJuly 24, 2017
The people there are great, and work well together. Communication and consistent direction from the management team has been lacking at times, but is showing good signs of improvement. The company is large enough that growth and career advancement opportunities are common if you truly apply yourself.

The job culture is terrible. The "Us Versus Them" mentality tends to run rampant at all levels. Also, the profit sharing program limits the ability to negotiate annual salary increases for the employee base, so, if you come here, negotiate for what you want up front as annual raises can sometimes be extremely low. The typical corporate practice of bringing in new employees at equal or higher pay as the current, experienced staff, is also a complaint of mine. While it is an attempt to bring in a "better class" of employees, it does alienate the trained staff. As stated, this is something that I have seen time and again in other companies, so is not necessarily a negative.

The hardest part of the job is learning it, and making sure your supervisors actually train you to your position. The learning curve is 6-12 months minimum. The best parts are the people, and the fact that all the company does is break stuff for testing results. It's a little kid's dream job in some cases.

Overall, my experience with the company has been remarkably positive, and I would recommend it to other people for sure.
Pros
People, chance to learn highly technical aspects of testing, exposure to multiple industries
Cons
Retirement plan and healthcare offerings could be much better, pay scales

Upper management is horrible

Pros
Job security

A solid place to work, but expect to be confused on your priorities
Mechanical Test Technician (Current Employee) –  Duarte, CAJune 27, 2017
Element in Duarte, is a decent place to work. Pay is okay, the people are solid and want to help you learn. Management frequently has no idea what is happening, nor make a logical attempt to fix issues. Benefits are good, though getting a bonus is akin to hitting a moving target. You do have the ability to move up, as long as you have an engineering degree. Sales will frequently stick you with work without checking that we can do it, or if customer specs meet ASTM ISO requirements for valid results.
Pros
Lots of free food. usually overtime is available but optional.
Cons
confusion on who needs what done. bonus' are a moving target

went through several shop foreman in my time there so things were constantly changing.
the crew I worked with was great and constantly able to adapt to all the changes

Company you go to and get carts and leave. It's a money first place and an employee 2nd place. Your coworkers are the best part of working there. Like I said it's a monthly revenue company and they will push you to save money and make them profits without a raise

Horrible Company
Field Service Technician (Former Employee) –  IndianaApril 15, 2017
Worst place I've ever worked. Nothing more than a paycheck. Most coworkers are nice to work with. Dead end job. Raises are rare, 6 - 20 cents, if you get one. Management shows no appreciation or recognition of your hard work. They gripe when you work OT, but demand more than you can do in 40 hours. Rather than hire extra people, management expects more from the employees, burns them out, and doesn't care about them. Element has steadily been losing business and declining income year after year since 2010. They keep adding to my workload rather than my coworkers, making me feel used and taken advantage of. They told me they would rather me work OT than the others since I don't make as much as they do. Helps save costs. I would not recommend anyone work here. Most employees know how bad the company is, yet they stay like a wife staying with an abusive husband. Management is clueless as to how to effectively manage people and they push good people away.
Pros
Nice coworkers
Cons
Management, dead end job, no raises, and way too many more to list here

It is an ok company to work for if you do not like growth. They do not like to give raises and there isn't much room to advance in within the company. Benefits are great and weekends are voluntary.
Pros
Free Coffee, Medical benfits, Employees are great
Cons
Poor management, little to no raises once a year

Order Entry (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCMarch 25, 2017
Awful management, can't keep employees in the Machine Shop. They don't keep they word when it comes to moving up in the company or raises. They are very unorganized and the Charlotte branch makes they own rules and doesn't have a HR at this location. They also show sexist towards females for certain positions and duties. Have a stupid point system that makes no sense and that's their way of getting rid of people fast.
Pros
None
Cons
Awful management, point system, very unorganized, and pay isn't based on experiences

Customer Service (Current Employee) –  Huntington Beach, CAJanuary 24, 2017
I've learned a great deal about the engineering/materials testing world that I wouldn't know much about had I not worked for my company. I've participated in building a strong relationship with some of our largest clients to support their testing needs. In this fast pace work environment, it can become very overwhelming, but with an awesome management team and great co-workers, we assist each other and get the job done.
Pros
great bonus program
Cons
not a lot of room for advancement

Very poor management, no respect or recognition for your service.
Employee (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXJanuary 15, 2017
Great coworkers to work with as well as some of the lower level management. They are caring, warm and have great work ethic (albeit major job discontentment). The mid level and upper management are terrible. Their expectations tend to be very unrealistic. For example, management tends to complain about allowing overtime, yet they expect you to perform an amount of work that isn't achievable within 40 hours. A common practice within the past two years is for management to alter your time worked. If you go over 40 hours, management will go into the timekeeping system and change your punch in/out time to show 40 hours. It's a good stepping stone to learn the trade but it is not a place to expect advancement or to expect any sort of respect or dignity. They discourage independent thought or problem solving. The pay is poor to mediocre at best and you are lucky to get 25 cent raises. The morale is very low and many employees are grumbling about the same shared complaints found in other reviews here. It seems like a sinking ship getting ready to capsize.
Pros
Great employees to work with
Cons
Poor management, poor communication, poor job advancement, poor pay, mediocre medical insurance
