Fast paced position which interactacted with many departments and all employees. Obviously, it was necessary to hire the best candidates for supporting roles since the position required some travelling as well as continuous upgrades and negotiating the best price for the best products. Accuracy and timeliness with transmitting the payroll was essential. Reporting to Merck KGaA in Germany for all expatriate financials was essential each pay period. In addition, since we had a sites in Canada the payroll rules and regulations of the various provinces needed to be documented so that all payroll clerks could accurately post in a timely manner.
Two sites had unions in manufacturing and it was important to be aware of their rate changes, pensions, Holidays and benefits since they differed for both sites. It became essential to generate a manual which would include all the data anyone who was a new hire could review and sign off once they had the opportunity to study the differences among the 6 sites. We updated the manual as changes would occur to keep the activity current and we would provide this manual to all auditors.
