EMJ does it all for the mall. The company, which was founded in 1968, specializes in building and renovating retail outlets and shopping centers throughout the US. However, the company also is known for building other projects, including offices, warehouses, churches, hotels, multifamily residences, hospitals, and wind farms. Working from five offices across the US, EMJ provides general construction and construction management. Its pre-construction services include creating detailed budgets and construction schedules and coordinating permitting, utility companies, and municipal requirements. Quality control, safety and warranty management also is offered in order to track a project's progress and monitor costs.
Over the years EMJ has built more than 500 million sq. ft. of construction projects. Its client roster includes Academy, Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Home Depot, PetSmart, and Winn-Dixie.
EMJ owns several operating divisions, including Signal Energy, which engineers and constructs renewable energy projects such as wind farms, and solar and biomass energy projects. Another division, Accent Construction Management, provides site selection, budgeting, scheduling and other services. In 2010 the company broadened its national footprint by acquiring Memphis-based builder Inman Construction.
The company, which was founded by Edgar M. Jolley, is led by his son, Jay Jolley. – less
