Delaware is a new area for Empire Today. Maybe one lead a day on average. Sales is a numbers game. Without lots of leads, any salesman will suffer. The staff are wonderful and helpful. If it wasn't for the low lead count, this would be a wonderful place to work.

Running leads in all of central Florida, mainly the East coast. Management make it a great work environment. The hardest part of the job are the occasional 3 hr drives to a customers house. The best part of the job is Networking with the customers... you meet ALL types of people.

This company only cared about it profits and work people with no care for their well being. This was the worse place I have ever been involve with. I feel for the people who work for this company, I saw them laid off a female two months before she was due to deliver.

Its a job you don't go to work to have fun and make friends those are bonuses

I manage my day with set of goals, (Daily, Weekly, monthly). I start my day by receiving phone referrals from customer service. I would fallow it with a phone call to the referrals. I will make my appointments according to my set schedule. I will go to my customer's home and ask them questions as to their needs and wants and I will then answer their – more... questions with my presentations and show them my products will fulfill their needs. I will ask them for commitment and will sign them on the dotted line. I enjoy interacting with my clients and show much interest in their needs. I have learned that being compassionate to my customers, listening to their needs and concerns helps me through the door and closing the deal. My customers genuinely like me as a person and will do business with my again in the future and I often get my future referrals from my previous customers. – less

Interesting job, with interesting people there isn't much to tell.

Excelled in customer service. Presentations designed to close the deal.

Massive layoffs. Company directions pertaining to the customer is not good. Cheap and not willing to hire professionals. Willing to cut corners to save money.

Suspect pricing multiple price drops.They start you out fast but quickly fizzles, I was there 9 months and watched 60-80 sales reps come and go.

I realy enjoy the client interaction, learning about flooring, and a flexible schedule

You are pretty much on your own

I worked in their sales department and went bankrupt. It wasn't due to lack of effort, I worked hard (e.g. went to top floors of buildings on Lake Shore Drive with 50 lbs of samples). I worked 12 hours a day and made $250 per week the last 6 months of work. The problem was the hours I worked (mandatory) and the discrepancy between a good sales appointments – more... and bad ones. Empire's long time sales people tend to get the best appointments (e.g. house of carpet in middle class area, versus a mobile home or other poor areas). You can not tell management where you will go and will not go. You will make $250 or $500 a week on average and will have $200 in gas, tickets, and car repairs bills that week (not worth it right?). You probably will not start out that way. You may make $800 for your first few weeks (this is to fool you). Once your comfortable, usually after 2-3 months, you are sent to the undesirable areas. If you are lucky you'll get the welfare people who try to finance their carpet. The finance applications takes about 45 minutes to fill out, on-top of the 45 minutes you spent showing samples. Those people are always a waste of time and you will see 10-15 of them per week. Near the end of your career with Empire you will be in debt from all the GAS, car repairs, lack of health insurance, accounting fees, supplies, auto insurance, parking tickets, and etc (You are responsible for all these expenses). There is a secret they will never tell you, you will never consistently get good appointments and if you complain they will stop your appointments altogether. You will be manipulated. Managers and the old timers will take most good appointments for themselves. Oh, you have to work 60 hours per week too. If the welfare people don't buy, that goes against your sales numbers, further ensuring you will not get good appointments. They also have mandatory meeting. If you miss the meeting, you will not get appointments for the day. One last thing, many times I did not get a commission on sales. Installers went to the house and said some aspect of the job cost more than expected, charged it to Empire and Empire charged it to my commission. This has happen to just about everyone I know at Empire. – less

This company will over work you and always come up with stipulations on monthly bonuses, the payout in bonuses is very low only because they make it impossible to get the bonuses. Management is not that great there, the supervisors do not know any of the material so no one can really ask them for help, on the contrary the agents are the ones helping – more... the supervisors. Nothing enjoyable about this job. Pay is not good and do not give yearly raises. If you do want to get paid decent you would need to have a split shift which pays 2.00 more an hour. – less

I have worked doing inside sales for the Empire Sales Team and am paid a very small hourly wage and am pressured daily to set appointments. I work very hard to close sales and what is frustrating and down right wrong is the way that Empire Today finds ways to cheat their employees out of their due commission. It started of by them leaving off items – more... because they were "not installed." I would receive a list of paid items only after it was too late to dispute them for the next pay period a week away and the items that were actually included for payment were not paid correctly. If the sale was for $2,000 and the commission percentage was 3% then it would show that $40 was due to me instead of $60 and these "mathematical miscalculations" just so happened to occur on every commission statement. Is Empire Today's accounting department really that incompetent that they can not do a simple multiplication problem correctly? Or why not create a spreadsheet on Excel that would perform the calculations to ensure their accuracy? Then to make matters worse, they only pay you for the items once the sales order is completed and installed, which is fine, but they do not give the sales associate the privileges to view the install date on their computer system, so the only way to confirm if a sales order was completed is to compile a list of "challenges" during your very small breaks in between calls and ask your manager to go thru the lists to find out when they were installed. Each sales associate has a significant number of challenges every pay period and this activity has been going on for years. It is quite clear that they do not want to pay their employees what is due and do everything in their power to put obstacles in the way of their employees finding out what sales were not paid. It is sad and frustrating because you are doing your part daily to make them money, but yet they do not want to pay what is owed and make it extremely difficult for the employee to get the commission owed and even once the challenge is approved it is two and a half weeks later to a month and by then you are waiting on new challenges and what is so ironic is that all of my coworkers are in the same situation. – less

I enjoyed this call center, management was good and on top of things, I learned more from there company, excellent training but job security was no good, company shut down and they fired most people due to their own mistakes! Not bad for a quick fix job

Enjoyed everyone I worked with. The manager was a very nice person and we all worked together.

It takes hard work to be a successful realtor. The hardest part of the job is acquiring clients.

This was a pure comission based job. The sales leads just keep coming. I ran 6-9 in home sales calls 6 days a week. Meeting and building new customer relationships daily. It was fun and fast paced. Management was great and the sales team was extremely professional. I loved every minute of this job. The hardest part was getting to the customers home – more... on time. Empire is a good company for someone who is young and just getting out of highschool or getting Associates Degree; looking into the accounting field, or someone who needs just enouph money for little things while living at home. .

This is a great company that overall has is great to work for, the management does not however treat the staff with respect and it makes for a very unpleasent work place
