Position Title: Senior Account Manager
Reports To: Director of Account Management
Department: All Group Sizes – Fully Insured and Self Insured
Summary: Responsible for all Client size that is both fully and self-insured. Provides overall management of client and conducts regular service visits and successful renewals to ensure a solid relationship. Must be able to multi-task, conflict resolution and adhere to deadlines. This individual is also required to be a self reliant, highly efficient and organized person with strong problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills. Must possess the ability to work with others while independently managing and prioritizing the workload which is a critical aspect of this position.
Oversees marketing and RFP process until completion of renewal.
Maintains communication with Account Executive to strategize overall needs of client.
Manages activities of Account Coordinator
Conducts Pre-Renewal visits and provides benefit and plan design strategy and
benchmarking information, survey material when necessary
Creates RFP and identifies carriers for solicitation and establishes timelines
Coordinates efforts with Reporting Unit during renewal process. Provides necessary
support to Reporting Unit for renewal negotiations and review of spreadsheet and
Negotiates and ensures proper assignment of client commissions.
Conducts regular client meetings with management staff (i.e. Human Resource, CFO
or Healthcare Committee) to review service, compliance, education needs or client
Conducts employee meetings and prepares communication pieces for open
enrollment such as power point presentations and open enrollment alert newsletters
(i.e. open enrollment, new acquisition, table time).
Handles escalated claim and compliance issues as well as assisting client with
internal and external appeals process.
Reviews certificates, SPD’s, SBC’s, contracts, plan installation materials for accuracy.
Facilitates wellness programs and necessary education, including Health Fair’s
Maintains knowledge of Federal and State regulations and mandates i.e. Cobra,
HIPAA, FSA, PPACA, Medicare Part D.
Meets with carriers on a regular basis to keep up-to-date with product and benefit plan
Forward employee open enrollment changes to carriers
Oversees post enrollment activities and acts as liaison between insurance carriers and
client to coordinate transfer of data and final decisions.
Updates Agency Ware data base and maintains client dash board to manage work
Seek opportunities for cross-selling and presents new EBI initiatives and products
Preparing Mercer benchmark reporting for clients
Mentor team responsible for your book of business

Willingness to seek increased responsibilities and commits to working additional hours of work when necessary.
To perform this job successfully, individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, Power Point design software, or similar data base management systems.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and calculate percentages
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to question form groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
EDUCATION & EXPEREINCE
3+ years of Employee Benefits or related experience, or any combination of education, experience and training that provides knowledge and abilities to perform the job.
