This job taught me how to do research. I also had my first experience with customer service.

Pro:
good benefits, not very hard work, not a lot of pressure to quickly respond a call, great training, people were very nice, sometimes you can really make a difference in someone's life by helping them get that unemployment insurance check.

Con:
Oakland office was in a bad area of town, low pay, hard to move up due to fact that starting position – more...  is too low of an entry level. Hardest part of the job was to have to listen to people complaint about not having money all day long. – less

I enjoyed working at EDD. The environment was great and I was able to work at my own pace.

loved working there... but i had to stay home with the little one

Although position was by nature seasonal, there was afforded an opportunity to utilize current technology and interpersonal skills to resolve issues within legal parameters. As such, it was rewarding to utilize communication and analytical skills to assist clients, rather than be constrained by script.
