Terrible executive leadership, and poor faith in field managers.
Regional Manager (Former Employee), New Jersey – May 15, 2013
Pros: they flew us to meet the executive team at their hq in indiana.
Cons: executives were to focused on themselves instead of the field.
As a previous Mid-Level Manager for them, they made working efficiently an impossibility. Their executive team at their corporate office in Indiana focused too much on having management report daily activities, being part of long-winded internal meetings, and listening to internal "back-patting phone call sessions" instead of driving the business and – more... providing real-world results for their clients, and as a consequence, internal employees became smothered and spread very thin by administrative initiatives set forth by corporate-- which didn't help produce revenue. They where incapable of growing to new markets and depended too much on their national accounts to keep them afloat. They tried desperately to hire talent-- which they could never keep interested. Employment Plus is probably one of the most dysfunctional staffing companies around. I would not recommend them as an employer or provider of staffing services. If you don't believe me go work for them. I would attribute their failures to their VP's in Indiana, a poor cost-center turn-around model, and a lack of faith in field managers. – less

Pros: longer lunch breaks
Cons: nothing to keep your hands moisturized
I made boxes and delivered them. The management and co-workers were very friendly. The job was very laid back with no difficulty to it at all. The most enjoyable part about the job were the people

Unprofessional/Unethical management
Support Staff (Former Employee), Ohio – April 11, 2013
Pros: i had excellent vacation, but only because the company i worked for had it in their contract.
Cons: unprofessional and unethical management, inconsistent policies, payroll problems
I worked for Employment Plus for 6 months, and couldn't get out fast enough. They would make mistakes on my paychecks, such as not taking out insurance one week, taking out double the next. There were several times that there was a 'computer error' and we were not paid until several days later, and then by check and not direct deposit. Smells like cash – more... flow problems to me.
The regional manager was more interested in flirting with the men at the company I worked at than actually taking care of her employees. I was written up for discussing an issue I had with EP with the contract manager at the company I was working at. During the meeting we had to discuss that, the regional manager told me "you have a beautiful son and a great house - no one wants to sit at home and wait on their $108 check every week." Really!?!?! Rather than just say, keep quiet or we'll fire you, you threaten my family?!?!
When EP took over, they held 'interviews' for the team leader position - what a joke. They asked us to badmouth our fellow employees, with no intention of giving any of the current employees the position. The girl they brought in as team leader was, to say the least, a disappointment. She actually asked me one day if the opposite of 'descending' was 'condescending'. Wow.
Stay very far away from Employment Plus. – less

Horrible Place to work for
Employment Plus Worker (Former Employee), Coldwater, MI – April 7, 2013
Cons: bad pay, bad treatment, incompetent office staff, complete indifference to the workers.
I was injured on the job, they treated me horribly, took advantage of my lack of knowledge of their responsibility's, said I became a liability and would no longer place me.

always doing something different, going to work was worth it, great people
Production Worker (Former Employee), Howell, MI – March 28, 2013
Pros: good people, maagement, cookouts and bounses every month
Cons: closed the doors on us and moved company over sees
A dsy at MTI was always interesting, on different machines from day to day, usually always something different. I learned at this shop how to run a robotic welder, a hand press, and a large press while maintaining production and quality checks. Management was very good at this shop, nice courtios, helpful, and didn't look down on people. The management – more... also had cookouts for us once a month and gave out bounes on those dasy to show appreciation. The co-workers were al nice and easy to get along with everyone was happy there, like big family. Hardest part of that job was that one of our co-workers had passed away and we were allowed to shut down the shop for a few hours to go pay respects. The best part of this job was the over time, the people, the location, the surroundings, just made you want to be there to help the company out. – less

low pay, hard work, with little chance of being hired in.
Line leader (Former Employee), Port Huron Mi – March 20, 2013
Pros: quick job
Cons: low possibility for hire in, expensive health insurance, forced over time (weekends and twelves)
I worked for them for a company called HP Pelzer. The work was for 8.25 an hour in a factory that was very fast paced and very physically demanding. Though employment plus was great the places they have you work are horrible. If you just need the money or need factory expeirance they're the route to take. I now work for a factory that started m off – more... at 11 an hour and I do way less work< but i gained my expeirance needed through pelzer and employment plus. oh, it takes a year for people to get hired at Pelzer with only a dollar raise... – less

Employment Plus Staffing Specialist
Staffing Specialist (Former Employee), Jackson, MI – March 2, 2013
Pros: benefits, vacation time, and a pretty office.
Cons: no lunch breaks, long hours! remember you're salaried at this level! no thanks or recognition for job well done.
I was so excited to work for a Company as large as Employment Plus! When I got there my first day, they obviously were not prepared for me. I had an office, a phone and a computer that could not connect on to the internet. I had no log in information for training, no email set -up. That took a week or two. To pass the time while I was waiting for these – more... essential items to do my job, I was told to sit with the front desk receptionist and learn her job. Having worked as a Customer Service Supervisor for years prior to getting my degree in Human Resources, I was appalled by her rude manner our associates were treated by the receptionist, both on the telephone, or stopping by in person; usually coming in with questions or concerns. Although she was a type A personality, she would have applicants complete their forms and wait for over 45 minutes at times just to speak to a Staffing Specialist. I was doing nothing, just waiting for people to interview. The wait was inexcusable in my mind.

I finally got a new computer and was in business. I was to complete the on-line training course for Staffing Specialists, but never completed the training as the Company was switching to a new HRIS system. So that was where my training time was spent. Learning how to use this new system. Never really learned how my job was suppose to be performed as a Staffing Specialist the Employment Plus way.

In the 6 months I was employed by Employment Plus, they fired an awesome area manager, sent the staffing manager to another office; who told by the area director she could not communicate or help me or the other Staffing Specialist in any way. We were doing jobs that the staffing manager handled on a day to day that we had no training in at all! But, we flew by the seat of our pants for two months and held that office together, satisfying our clients and associates needs. Another area manager was finally placed in our office. A very dynamic and successful individual in the staffing industry. She was unhappy as she was a corporate employee with Employment Plus, and was offered a much lesser position as the Area Manager for our office. She felt like she had been used and abused by the leaders at our Corporate office in Bloomington, IN. She stayed two weeks then quit. My co-worker was fired without notice for who knows what - she had no idea, However, the next day they brought the old staffing manager back to take her place because she dislike working at another branch office about 45 minutes away. We soon got a another new Area Manager, very sweet, but very naive. I was laid off at the end of November due to poor sales in out city's market.

To be quite honest, I was never so happy to leave a job in my life. I watched people come and go like they were cattle. I would never recommend employment as an Employment Plus team member in Michigan It was one of those jobs that you take thinking it's a great opportunity, when you begin to realize it is truly not what it appears to be.

I may sound like a disgruntled former employee, but I truly am not. I do however thank God daily that I was laid off, eligible for Unemployment benefits, allowing me time to find another position that is truly a better fit for me. It's was extremely difficult working in an environment where staff came and went - it created a feeling of intimidation, fear, insecurity, and took away my confidence as a highly regarded staffing professional in my community.

Reader please note - I was over all those feelings in a day. I am back, as confident as ever. I will never ever work in an environment like that again. Good lesson learned. – less
