it is an ok company
Operations Analyst (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CAApril 4, 2017
the industry is not good and so the company is not doing well currently. The India team is not helping except for putting more office politics and drama. People leave the company very often and I don't see a lot of promotion opportunity.

Legal Specialist (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CAMarch 24, 2017
If you need a pay check and have the ability to with stand all the work that must be kept up with than it is not a back place to start off. You're likely to have a contract renewed than to have the company roll you over into a full time employee. Mean while, you get to hear about job migrating to another country.

Asst. Property Manager (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXFebruary 15, 2017
This company was a great place to start a career with. But awful place to move up on. The company halted growth and expansion. There was no future within the company to expand and learn.
Pros
Good starting company
Cons
Terrible place to work.

Work hours can be long and fast paced. Company is changing but does offer competitive benefits. The work life balance is minimal.

Manager, Facilities (Current Employee) –  San Diego, CANovember 30, 2016
Great work environment at all offices throughout the organization. A place where one can advance their education with the company's assistance.
As in all organizations communication could be a little better.
Great executive team.
Pros
Great pace to work
Cons
Could be better on promotions and compensation

Legal Specialist (Current Employee) –  St. Cloud, MNSeptember 18, 2016
I sit at a desk all day. GM's wish for us to have little to no association with our coworkers unless you are a lead or senior specialist.
Management needs to learn to "manage". There is a certain amount of conflict that specialists "take care of ourselves" but management does not step to help combat conflict.
Pros
30 minute lunch break
Cons
No management expertise.

Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) –  USAJuly 20, 2016
Company is very employee oriented with a forward focus initiative.
Company is willing to provide ample training opportunities and management is supportive of staff.

High stress environment and employee safety is always a priority with upper management.

Consumers are treated fairly and the company wants the best for everyone involved.
Pros
Lots of employee recognition; work life balance is good

Steer clear of this place!!!
Legal Specialist (Former Employee) –  Warren, MIApril 22, 2016
This place is a joke. Overworked and under paid. Management is completely ridiculous and decisions are constantly made without keeping the staff informed of the changes. Nothing you do is never enough. No room for growth at all! The amount of people that leave each month is nearly uncountable at this point. There are even temps that will tell you they don't want a full time position here because of the stuff that goes on. Everyone is miserable and it just keeps getting worse. If you call in sick, you get an occurrence and two more of those in a 30 day period, its a write up. So if someone in your life happens to pass and you didnt give a two week notice of your time off, too bad. Occurrences it is for you. They do not care about how stressed and overwhelemed you are, they will keep pushing mandatory overtime on you. You as a person, do not matter to this place.

Bottom line: STEER CLEAR OF WORKING HERE!!! Your sanity is worth much more than what this place will pay you for.

A company with a changing culture
former employee (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CAJanuary 12, 2016
Great company but the culture is making a shift to a much more aggressive one. There seems to be no concrete strategy rather just grow earnings at any cost to employees.

Worst chaos driven company I've ever worked for period.
hr manager (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CAJanuary 9, 2016
Expect to work with the most useless and uneducated people. There are times you have to read your already sent emails to people to get a response, otherwise they don't have the ability to respond. Management puts you out to deal with items on your own with little to no training. HR is a joke. HR is a joke. HR is a joke (this needs to be repeated). HR is the most incompetent group in the entire organization. Other departments need to perform HR functions because HR will otherwise not perform the tasks correctly, instead of simply firing those incompetent individuals and replacing them with individuals that can perform the required functions. Hardest part is coming to work everyday for a company that you don't believe in, doesn't value you, doesn't pay you anywhere what you near deserve, yet expects you to perform at 200%. 3-4 of your coworkers will leave, you will be asked to perform their functions and take on more work, with no pay increase or promotion.

A wonderful place to work
iSeries and Power Systems Administrator (Former Employee) –  Tempe, AZSeptember 15, 2015
After having lost my job from another company, I was given a contract position here,, where I learned that good jobs still exist. I am by no means a lazy person, but Encore Capital is project oriented and driven to success kind of company. Dynamic but paced. It is a worldly company that expands many countries. India, Costa Rica and several cities in the US. just to name a few.
I really enjoyed the camaraderie within the departments and management teams. I would really like to work there again.
Pros
Defined goals. Good camaraderie
Cons
My assignment was too short
