Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is a community teaching hospital that is located in a sophisticated, suburban New Jersey setting surrounded by the cultural advantages of New York City. Founded in 1890 as a 12-bed facility, today Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is a fully accredited hospital operating more than 350 beds served by over 3,000 employees and over 1,100 physicians and practitioners.
Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is nationally recognized for cardiac surgery and cardiac care, breast imaging and cancer care, spine surgery, orthopedic surgery, and maternity care, and is an international leader in patient blood management and bloodless surgery. Other areas of excellence include diagnostic imaging, offering a 3T MRI machine, a hybrid operating room, and other state-of-the-art technology.
Consistently earning high marks for clinical excellence and patient safety, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is a “Best Regional Hospital” according to US News & World Report (2016-2017). Since 2012, the hospital has earned a Safety Grade “A” by The Leapfrog Group, a record of achievement maintained by only three hospitals in New Jersey and 72 in the nation. In 2016, the medical center earned its fourth consecutive designation since 2002 by the Magnet Recognition Program® for excellence in nursing. Nationally only seven percent of hospitals have achieved Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
MDPartners, the physician network of Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, comprises hospital-based and community practices at more than 70 locations throughout northern New Jersey, including in Bergen, Hudson, and Essex counties, and Rockland County in New York. MDPartners has nearly 350 affiliated physicians. The medical center also owns and operates five satellite imaging locations, Advanced Medical Imaging in Emerson, Magnus Imaging in Glen Ridge, and Cardiac Imaging Centers in Fairlawn, Pompton Plains and Woodland Park.
As part of a strong commitment to the community, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center provides free health fairs, screenings, wellness services, and educational seminars. The medical center’s EMS operates the largest hospital-based ambulance system in Bergen County, providing dedicated ambulance services to neighboring municipalities, and offers CPR classes and other training for first responders. In 2015 Englewood Hospital and Medical Center provided $56.8 million in charity care and $38 million in unreimbursed care to the community.
Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is an affiliate of Hackensack Meridian Health and offers training programs in internal medicine, podiatry, pharmacy, and radiography, and serves as a site for training in surgery, vascular surgery, pathology, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, and critical care medicine.
