What do you think - will Ethan Allen grow fast? Are they expanding their staff? How does Ethan Allen stack up against the competition?

Experienced Contract Interior Designer with no furniture sales experience but some retail background. Busy store in CT. What do I expect in interview? Any particular questions to prepare for? Any specific questions I should pose to them? Thank you.

What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at Ethan Allen? What do you like best about working at Ethan Allen? Are there any great perks or special treats for employees?

Let's just see how many of us there are. If you know of anyone else, have them come to this site and list a state at least. Give a synopsis of your story as well. Notice that the TV ads are much more hip and hollywood looking and even use the word sexy. I guess the over 45's don't fit the image they are after. Farouk's daughter is in charge of all advertising now.

Do you work at Ethan Allen? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview? Any advice for someone trying to get in?

Howdy Folks, I see that enough of us Ethan Allen'ers are on here. I thought that I might offer an opportunity to compile our experiences and talk frankly about them. Please contact me at TheRealEthanAllen@gmail.com to get involved or share your experience or insight. Thanks, JB in Pittsburgh

Has anyone heard any information at all on this fairly new franchise company of ten years called "Decor and You?" I saw a job posting online and was curious what this company is like, especially with all the bad news you hear about with these furniture/interior design companies out there. I am trying to find a job, and it is very difficult to find a decent interior design/decorator job/career, esp. in this economy.

I would love to talk with anyone still employed by EA happily or not. This is my job and I have to find a way to make it work. I love the people I work with. I too have a DCM that nods appropriately at the right time with the right amount of enthusiasm and does as best she can by us. I am really struggling with the changes and need the money albeit soooo much less than what I had been earning. I don't see many opportunities in my area and am unable to put up any starting cost for my own gig or go without income while things get going. My co-designers are ALL unhappy and we are too scared to even talk to each other about this. I am hoping that corp will see the light and change things in few months as I can't imagine they will continue to pay salaries for team leaders and designers that are skating along while other people carry the team, nor can I imagine the carriers will continue to do so without appropriate compensation. I am finding it hard to do any more than the minimum knowing that I would be carrying and getting a smaller cut than a skater. It is against my grain to not do all I can but I am not a pushy sales type. We have some designers and some sales people and each DC evolves into it's own microcosm. My DC is made up of mostly very educated and talented ladies who truly care for their clients and consider many clients friends. I personally do not push anything for the sale and always consider the clients needs and desires. If they are struggling to pay for a $5k project I will advise them they would get the most out of the project and their budget by buying the accessories elsewhere. I will even sometimes tip them off to where they might find what they need. Everyone should be able to afford a home that makes them happy. I don't know if I am a 'real designer' and I don't care how anyone else wants to classify ME.

Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Ethan Allen? Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Ethan Allen?
