The Everglades Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, charitable organization dedicated to advancing an understanding of the Greater Everglades Ecosystem and its irreplaceable environmental and economic value.
Since 1993, the Everglades Foundation has been doing its part to help the environmental community develop the staff and tools necessary to tackle restoration challenges.
The Foundation provides grants to our conservation partners to strengthen their Everglades programs. In 2007, the Foundation awarded over $1.3 million in grants to 11 partner organizations; and in 2008 the Foundation will award matching programming grants of over $1.3 million to thirteen environmental organizations. The Foundation also dedicated over $500,000 for legal actions that have helped ensure the protection of the Everglades in 2007.
The Everglades Foundation works to protect the Everglades through environmental leadership, scientific expertise, and policy experience.
The Foundation's world-class science department conducts and sponsors scientific research and analysis, so facts determine our policies, positions and actions. We give grants to the best local, national and international organizations to focus their professional staff and millions of members on Everglades restoration. We partner to form coalitions, set priorities, share information and devise strategies to unite and strengthen the voices for Everglades restoration. We monitor local, state and federal government policies and actions that affect the Everglades ecosystem. We communicate the truth about the threats to the Everglades and offer the best possible solutions to them. We are advocates on behalf of the Everglades with policy makers who affect the future of the ecosystem. As a last resort, we support litigation when government or private entities act to harm the Everglades, or when government agencies fail to carry out the laws passed to restore and protect it. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
