Extendicare REIT, through its wholly owned subsidiary operating entities, is a provider of long-term and short-term senior care services through its network of owned and operated healthcare facilities in North America. In the United States, the Company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Extendicare Health Services, Inc. (EHSI), operates 185 senior care facilities with capacity for 18,634 residents, and has a presence (more than 10% of its resident capacity) in each of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin. The Company’s subsidiary Extendicare (Canada) Inc. ( ECI), operates 81 senior care facilities in Canada, with capacity for 11,394 residents. On January 1, 2008, ECI acquired LTC Professional Insurance Company, Ltd (LTC Professional).
