Great starting point for accounting career
Assurance Associate (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXMay 23, 2017
EY is a solid firm to start your accounting career, as you get a lot of experience in different accounting areas with large and small clients. During busy season, expect to work most weekends and up to 90 hours a week.

Typical Big 4
Auditor in Risk Advisory Services (Former Employee) –  Cleveland, OHMay 23, 2017
a typically big 4 firm. very little top down communication of who is and is not moving through the ranks. a high performance culture that breeds clawing and scratching to try and get ahead of everyone else in the organization.

Audit Senior (Current Employee) –  Tampa, FLMay 21, 2017
There's a reason people don't last long. It is very difficult to work there for a long period of time. You are expected to know many things very quickly and meet unrealistic expectations.

Good place for building career. You will get to work with the smartest people around. People are fantastic. Work culture is very cut throat and will require you to be on top of your game.

Best job I've ever had. If I could have stayed, I would -- just could not travel anymore. The job was challenging, interesting, and diverse. Brilliant coworkers and great leadership.

It was a productive and fun workplace. If calls were slow, we could sometimes surf the internet or listen to music. I enjoyed working there. It was a fun atmosphere.

Ernst and Young
Financial Planner (Former Employee) –  Secaucus, NJMay 16, 2017
Ernst and Young is a great place to work if you are fresh out of school or looking to establish your resume, but otherwise I would recommend avoiding it. The culture is extremely poor and they will try to pay you the least amount as possible while concurrently trying to squeeze every inch of life out of you.
Pros
Good benefits package and non-contributory pension plan.
Cons
Horrible culture.

IT Risk Advisor (Current Employee) –  Detroit, MIMay 14, 2017
I've learned a tremendous amount of skills and have experienced a lot of of business processes, risks and controls within various industries. There is a ton of flexibility, but little work life balance. Essentially, work goes home with you once you leave the office and it's at least 45 hour weeks and upwards to 60-70, depending on deadlines. People are mostly down to earth and cool, but they are all super career focused.
Pros
free happy hours, good benefits, flexibility
Cons
long hours, no work life balance

Advisory Staff II (Current Employee) –  Boston, MAMay 12, 2017
My experience in advisory overall has been a great experience, but has required a lot of hours. Minimum 50 hrs/wk typical. A lot of opportunities to try different kinds of projects as a staff, but can be hard to try new projects once you have aligned.

Executive Assistant (Feb 13th to April 21st] (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMay 12, 2017
Worked at this firm for 16 years. Good location in the midtown area and easy to get to via mass transit. Teamwork with my fellow EAs of the BSC was good and productive. Overall the people at the firm are good, hard working, productive, respectful and considerate.
Pros
Cafeteria, Coffee Lounge, volunteering, events, good people
Cons
Advancement within firm not good for EAs

Tax Manager (Current Employee) –  New Orleans, LAMay 12, 2017
You work a lot, but you learn a lot. The New Orleans office in particular has very good people with good leadership. I would not leave if I didn't have a personal reason for which to leave the company.

Risk Advisory Staff, Financial Services Office (Former Employee) –  Des Moines, IAMay 9, 2017
Minimal coaching provided with the expectation that everyone should be a star performer. No standards regarding documentation. Every senior has different preferences regarding how something should be done. Work life balance is another fancy term but then no Big 4 job role can guarantee you this.
Pros
Good for undergraduate students straight out of college, Great benefits for employees, Constant travel lets you gather frequent flyer miles and hotel points
Cons
Long work hours, lot of office politics
