Intern (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXNovember 17, 2016
The work itself was very interesting. However, I was placed in Houston, while the partner and manager that I worked with were based in New York. Had to figure out a lot of stuff on my own. Partner was not supportive.
Pros
Office location, friendly environment, and the online courses
Cons
disengagement from the partner, but maybe that's because we worked from two different locations, but still, it could've been better.

Not conducive to home work life balance. Strong over tone of career suicide. Heavy Contractor FTE environment. Over processed with multiple reporting systems.

I have learned a lot very quickly at EY. Superb on the job coaching and great benefits. It is a very fast paced environment but you will learn a lot if you put in the effort.

Good culture; internal core business professionals have limited opportunity for advancement
Development Consultant, Assistant Director (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILNovember 14, 2016
Good culture; internal core business professionals have limited opportunity for advancement. Pay is decent, but mostly front loaded (lower 401k match benefits).

highly skilled people, good exposure, limited growth to non-typical sectors
Strategy Consultant (Operations) (Current Employee) –  New York, NYNovember 13, 2016
The company is very much rounded and is highly regarded as the best advisory services firm in Supply Chain. The colleagues are highly skilled, projects are quite interesting and give a lot of exposure. However, the company is highly siloed and it is very difficult to move on to other aspects and functions like PE or Wealth management tracks.
Pros
good exposure, interesting projects, global perspective
Cons
very big, silo, promotes single industry/ function thinking

What I learned: do not expect a big organization to respect your desires for personal growth. Do not expect them to respect cultural diversity.

Great place to work
Sr. Executive Assistant (Current Employee) –  Boston, MANovember 11, 2016
EY is a great place to work. Lots of extra activities going on, you can get as involved as you'd like. They treat their employees very well, particularly in the Boston office. People are generally very nice and helpful. Learning to get around the company is the most difficult part of the job but once you figure that out, it truly is a great company.
Pros
great people
Cons
difficult to figure out how to get things done within the company

Great Place to start your Career. You work a lot of hours and a lot is expected out of you. There are typical times of the year for downtime and everyone encourages everyone to take the time off when needed.

Fun, human, flexible, easy to change carreer - but disorganized
Project Manager (Global) (Former Employee) –  GlobalNovember 4, 2016
EY is a great company to work for if you are starting a carreer and is interested in learning a lot of different things (just like the other Big Fours). People there are flexible and easy to work with, and it is easy to change within the firm if you are not "fitting in". The cons: EY growth through mergers has been proportionately high in the last years, so a lot of processes and org structures are not quite consolidated, which hinders meritocracy and "predictability" in terms of what professionals can expect for their careers. It is a mix of cultures - which sometimes it's a good thing, but at times leads to conflicts and attrition.
Pros
human, flexible, open, global opportunities
Cons
office politics, disorganized, lack of meritocracy

Transaction Advisory, Senior Consultant (Current Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 23, 2016
EY has a strong culture and is a great place to work. Every place has their pros/cons and every group is different. Just being will to travel if you are a consultant.

EY has a lot of opportunity for new hires to start and grow a career. Now is a great time to join consulting practice as its growth has shot up a ton in the last 5 years.

Great place to work - accelerated learning environment
Senior Auditor (Current Employee) –  Iselin, NJOctober 18, 2016
The people that you work with will have your back and will work with you on your problems. If you vocalize that you are having problems on a project, management will take the time to go through your responsibilities with you and work to create a plan that will enable you to accomplish your goals and the requirements of the job.

Great colleagues and clients; intense atmosphere but very rewarding. An opportunity to learn a great deal at a leading organization. Assignment to projects can occasionally be somewhat arbitrary.

Senior Consultant, Performance and Reward (Former Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 16, 2016
I was told that I wouldn't have to travel in my role, however, within weeks I was traveling each week on a project outside of my skill set. The firm is too big and there is little effort on your success.
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
Too much travel
