Director Surgery Scheduling, Grapevine, TX - April 28, 2013
On clinic days, review schedule for day prepare paperwork for patients that will be seen that day. I will also review insurance for estimated Surgery cost. When siting with the patient, I will schedule pre operative, surgical, and post operative appointments according to patients and surgeons availability. On none clinic days, I will assemble preoperative paperwork, review charts, schedule appointments with referring doctors for patient follow up, prepare charts to be reviewed by surgeon, create surgery schedule based on surgeons protocol. I have learned to manage time more efficiently, communicate with patients that may not be in the best of moods, I have also learned a lot about the medical field. Management is great at listening to issues at hand but not finding resolutions, not experienced in medical management. I enjoy all of my coworkers but in this time of dysfunction and disorganization the tensions are high and fuses are short. EMR was implemented 6 weeks ago and it is not the system we expected and it is not working as we all expected. The hardest part of my job is too much work for 1 person. I have been asking for help for months now and still have no relief. Most enjoyable is interaction with the patients. Before they have surgery, explaining the process and calming their nerves. After surgery, the excitement and pure joy that the patients have there sight back. It truly is amazing.
