FEFA has a current opening for an Occupational Therapist (OT) in Bethesda, MD at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Must have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy and maintain registration through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NECOT) along with State licensure through the appropriate licensing board.
OT must have a thorough, professional, in-depth knowledge of OT principles, practices, and methodologies requiring extended education and significant experience to plan and can)' out complex long and short term treatment plans for patients with a multiplicity of difficult and complex problems to include physical, psychosocial, and cognitive disabilities. Therapist should be capable of using a wide variety of unique therapeutic activities and techniques designed to foster functional independence, and resumption of occupational roles.
OT should also have knowledge of normal and abnormal motor, sensory, cognitive, psychosocial and social skills and abilities expected at various states of life; common disabilities or incapacities associated with emotional behavioral, neurological, orthopedic, and general medical conditions that interfere with the ability to function.
Knowledge of work therapy/community reintegration practices and principles within and ability to perform formal and informal evaluations in the area of physical, psychological, cognitive, perceptual motor, activities of daily living (ADL), development process, work performance, and role performance; and the ability to synthesize, analyze, and conceptualize the meaning of various tests and measures for use in developing treatment.
