Flexible work place
Billing Registrar (Current Employee), New Haven, CTDecember 29, 2013
Pros: very flexible place to work
Cons: no raise in 5 years and increasing insurance costs make it very difficult
the Center has been struggling for the past 5 years to keep up with all the growing expenses. I have stayed working at the Center because I love what I do and the people I work with. I have learned mostly everything I know at the Center but no one has gotten a cost of living raise in 5 years and the cost of insurance has made it very difficult to continue – more... there. I think money is the only hard part of the job. – less

BUSY COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE OFFICE
LPN, Women's Health/Prenatal Coordinator (Former Employee), Fair Haven, CTDecember 23, 2013
Pros: friendly, caring staff, excellent care
Cons: understaffed, high volume work
ASSIST ADULT, PEDIATRIC, FAMILY, WOMEN'S HEALTH PROVIDERS IN A BUSY CLINIC SETTING. I LEARNED TO PRIORITIZE AND MANAGE HIGH VOLUME OF WORK. MANAGEMENT WAS CHANGING. MY CO-WORKERS WERE A VERY CLOSE KNIT TEAM, VERY HELPFUL, GREAT SUPPORT. THE HARDEST PART OF THE JOB WAS NOT HAVING ENOUGH HOURS IN SHIFT TO DO EVERYTHING THAT HAD TO BE DONE. THE MOST ENJOYABLE – more... PART OF THE JOB WAS BEING ABLE TO PROVIDE EXCELLENT CARE TO OUR PATIENTS, CONNECT THEM TO NEEDED RESOURCES, AND MEETING THE NEEDS OF PATIENTS. – less

This is family friendly workplace!
Triage Nurse (Current Employee), New Haven, CTMarch 23, 2013
Pros: work schedule flexibility
Cons: sometimes it's difficult to adjust and keep up with the many changes
The Fair Haven Community Health Center strives very hard to meet patient demand while balancing advancement of technology and patient safety at the clinic. They make very strong efforts to improve professionalism in the workplace as well as meet the needs of their employees through established protocols. I'm very proud and privileged to be an employee – more... of the Fair Haven Community Health Center. I have been employed here since August 25, 2008 and have seen numerous changes all for the benefit of meeting patient needs and improving work flow. The Fair Haven Community Health Center is the friendliest place to work for working moms and those with families.
A typical work day for me would be answering the triage phone lines, assessing patient needs, giving sound nursing advice and/or scheduling the patient with a provider for further evaluation. I learned that patients need our expertise and our empathy. With that combination, it is my goal to educate the patients on how to take better care of themselves and to be accountable for their life and health choices that could either help of hinder their condition. Our management team is always striving to improve the workflow and patient safety. My co-workers are great to work with because we look for one another and our patients. We have great team work and good work ethics. The hardest part of the job is not being able to meet every patient's need for an immediate appointment or resolve an issue as quickly as they would like, but we are still working on that. The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting the needs of the patients, increasing work flow, and working with a really great group of people! – less

Working with most Co-Workers and Supervisors was a pleasent expirience. They are always encouraging staff to further their education in the Health Service Carrier. The experience aquired wroking for the Fair Haven Community Health Center, encoraged me to further my education in the Field of Medical Billing.
