Unfortunate Situation
Senior Accountant (Former Employee) –  Kirkland, WADecember 11, 2017
If you like working long hours and on the weekends, then this is the place to work. If you value your personal life, there are better options out there. Having to work more than 16 hours a day is not for everyone.
Pros
Most people are friendly
Cons
Working hours, management doesn't know how to motivate

A very bad system and work enviroment
manger (Former Employee) –  Kirkland, WANovember 22, 2017
very stressful work environment, lots of finger pointings and blaming each others coming from the top down, frequent policies changing, very financial driven over the safety of the clients, huge turn over constantly with very poor efforts if any to retain staff, management always operats in crisis mode all the time to save money. Staff there are not valued at all, would not recommend to any job candidate on any level from top down..

Good experience for someone who wants to gain skills working with the behavioral and mental health population. Not so good pay rate, non-union. Ask for a higher pay at interview.

Registered Nurse/Surgical Telemetry Unit (Former Employee) –  Falls Church, VAJune 7, 2017
There is lots of room to learn and grow here. You can literally learn every single day for years and years considering all the innovation and advanced procedures possible here.
Pros
lots and lots to learn and room to grow, Incentive for continued education and tuition reimbursement.
Cons
This hospital/units can be very poorly staffed at times, a full 12hr shift you are really working hard and at times really no break, Very heavy patient loads with minimal staffing can be scary and overwhelming

I cannot give a fair review as I was not an official employee but from my observation it seemed like an overall good place to work. I was treated kindly by staff and the milieu was maintained well.

Busy Pediatric Medical Surgical Floor in teaching hospital
Pediatric RN (Former Employee) –  Fairfax, VAMarch 1, 2017
A typical day as a nurse involved a wide variety of patients with ages ranging from infants to early 20's. Patient care included medical surgical cases, infectious disease, and chronically ill children. The staff worked well together and management provided many opportunities for growth. This was a great place to learn a variety of nursing skills due to the extensive variety of care needed.

fast pace and demanding
Controller (Current Employee) –  Kirkland, WA 98034February 11, 2017
A very fast pace environment. Management tends to work in "crisis" mode. The job is very demanding and requires meeting sometimes impossible deadlines. Working weekends and overtime is expected even when on salary. Long term employees most likely feel that they are being taken advantage of.
Pros
annual merit increases - health benefits
Cons
time demands, hard to balance personal and professional obligations

Chronically understaffed, chaotic, disorganized, PAPER CHARTS !!!!
Staff/Charge Nurse (part-time) (Current Employee) –  Kirkland, WAApril 21, 2016
Individual staff are lovely to work with, and care a great deal about the patients. Unfortunately, units are consistently understaffed, frequently chaotic and disorganized. Breaks are very often missed. Staff frequently work overtime; double shifts are common. Staff are routinely floated from unit to unit. Continuity of care seems to be an irrelevant concept.

I had high hopes when I was hired. I am terribly disappointed.
Pros
Staff are hard working and pleasant.
Cons
chronic understaffing

Inova
Surgical Technologist (Former Employee) –  Fairfax, VAOctober 20, 2015
A typical day at work is always an opportunity to grow, there is always something new to learn. As I always say to those around me...., "When your green your growing when your ripe your rotten". The liberal approach to knowledge is to be open to learning. Management and coworkers would consider me a true team player. I am always available to help and assist any member of the health care team, environmental aids, nurses, young techs, surgeon; and most importantly, patients, family and friends. I enjoy working in the OR, the hardest part of being a tech is was the earl years..... Learning cases and how to deal with the unexpected changes that may take place, the impact it has on the surgeon and the surgical team depending on the case. If you know what your doing and how it is to be done you significantly decrease the possibility of not having what you need when its need.
Pros
Management was awesome, very supportive of staff with on going education, free parking
Cons
Good question..., The volume could be a bit much based on the time of year. This facility is always busy!!!
